The RED5 Hoverboard from Lost Universe

#gifted product. Kids need things that are fun and exciting to do that distract them from screens. Let’s face it, many children get far too much screen time. This is even more so where parents have to work long hours. Excessive screen time has a negative effect on children so I’ve been looking for ways to get them doing other things. There are all sorts of activities you can do but recently I found a super fun product that isn’t just great to use it also has health benefits too!!! So what is this amazing product you ask, it’s a hoverboard or the RED5 Hoverboard from Lost Universe.

Ha, I bet you didn’t expect that!!!

Let’s take a closer look at the product and why it’s a great product for the whole family to enjoy.

The RED5 Hoverboard from Lost Universe

This hoverboard is one of those cool toys that every child wants to have. It’s a product that you didn’t even realise you needed in your life until you have one. The RED5 Hoverboard has a number of great features. First of all, it has a great sleek rubberised design, durable rubber tyres and chrome detailed wheels which really add to its aesthetic appeal. Seriously, this is one good looking hoverboard. It can run up to 5.6 miles an hour and up to 5.5 miles per charge. This is suitable for age 8+.

It has LED front lights lighting your way if you don’t realise the time whilst playing with the hoverboard outdoors. Easy to do as it’s really good fun!

What’s In The Box?

Everything you need and luckily there isn’t much to it. You’ll find a charger lead that comes in 2 parts, an instruction booklet and the hoverboard.

Where Can You Use a Hoverboard?

If you have the space then these are easily used within your own home. Glide across rooms and along corridors and when you become more confident you can create your own little obstacle course to maneuver around.

If you’re not fortunate to have enough space to whizz around on one of these in your home then you can use these outdoors. It’s important to note that these can only be used on private land. So if you have a paved garden or drive area you can let loose.

How to Use the RED5 Hoverboard

You’ll need a flat surface to start with. The hoverboard is turned on by pressing the silver button down until the board makes a noise. Start off by sitting down, placing your feet on the hoverboard and slowly standing up. Leaning back makes the hoverboard go backwards. Lean to one side and the board will go to that side. The kids began by using each other for support initially. But it didn’t take long before they could run circles around me. It looked like they’d been using it for years. It’s amazing what little determination can do.

What Lessons Can A Child Learn from Using The RED5 Hoverboard from Lost Universe?

Teamwork

Spatial Awareness

Balance

Sharing

Patience

Confidence and they will also have a sense of achievement once they master using the hoverboard

Communication skills

Health Benefits

Due to the way you stand/balance on the board you work on standing straight without even realising it. Repetitive use will result in improved posture as the user needs to keep their back straight when using the hoverboard. It helps to strengthen your core muscles and also gives you a full body workout without too much effort. Would you believe a 3o minute ride could burn up to 300 calories! You’ll find that you’ll be working the ankle and calf muscles in particular. It also improves your reflexes as you constantly move in different positions to control the board.

Let’s not also forget it’s a fun thing to play with. By doing something you enjoy daily you can find it lifts your mood, reduces stress, improves mental health, improves sleep, helps you feel more positive, improves focus and concentration as you need to be focused to use the board for periods of time, it can even improve memory.

In addition, by cutting screen time with this device we reduce the amount of time children are stationary. We also reduce the risk of eye strain, headaches and tantrums, and bad behaviour that can be brought on by excessive screen use.

What Did We Think?

This is fantastic!!!!

The kids were overjoyed when they discovered we had been sent this amazing product to review. They couldn’t wait to get on and use the hoverboard. The instructions had said charge time was approximately 3 hours but the first charge took less time which I was very grateful for as the kids we soooooo excited. They all worked at trying to balance on the boar and as their confidence increased they were whizzing around the living room. They even ventured up and down the hallway where it was narrower to show how good they had become.

It was great to see the kids enjoy playing with this and also great the battery lasts so long as it seemed to have been used loads without the needed a recharge. Would you believe this got my son out of bed early so he could use it before school!!! Apparently, it performs miracles too, as I must admit I normally struggle to get him out of bed.

The kids have been great with taking turns are initially all wanting to pounce on it. They are also using this instead of staring blankly at screens so of course, I’m very happy.

This is a really great product to have and one my family is really enjoying using.

Have you ever used a hoverboard before? If not, is this something you’d be brave enough to try for yourself?

I’ve always wondered about these! They seem a bit scary, lol. But kids could totally handle it and be balanced. What a fun gift idea!

    1. admin

It is a little different and also really good fun.

  2. Sim

I’m in total agreement, we definitely have to think out of the box for screen free ideas… and a hoverboard is an ace idea! Nevermind kids though, I want to have a try – though may need knee pads! 😉 Sim x

    1. admin

Ha, isn’t it!!! Lol, you and me both.

  3. Helen

Oh wow this sounds like so much fun! I see people whizzing around on them every now and again and they certainly capture the attention of my children 🙂

    1. admin

My kids are loving this, they glide all around the place. The grins on their faces are priceless.

  4. Samantha Donnelly

This would be dangerous for me to try I would end up head to toe in plaster, they do look like great fun though and something all mine would have loved when they were younger and probably now as well

    1. admin

OMG, you should see my kids, they took to it like a duck to water!!! It was amazing.

  5. Cristina S Petrini

I must say that it is very popular among young people, I am unable to go there xD

  6. Sarah Bailey

This sounds like such a fun idea, I have to admit I would have loved a hoverboard when I was a kid, they sound like such fun ways to get around.

    1. admin

These are so much fun. The kids are loving it!

    2. Michelle

Our neighbours have a hoverboard and their 9 year old is so good on it. Luckily we share a big paved courtyard, so he has plenty of room to practice.

      1. admin

Oh wow, sounds like plenty of room for them to have fun with the hoverboard.

  7. Danwil R.

This gadget can be a lot of fun if you have a really good balancing skill.

    1. admin

Honestly, it didn’t appear to take the kids long to master this!!! I’m sure you’d manage too.

  8. Jesper

With the noiance of electric scooters, I almost miss this hype here in Stockholm. They demand a lot more concentration from their drivers, meaning safer streets for us all. The control engineering to get the board to stabilize is really impressive, that is for sure. 🙂

  9. Kara Guppy

My son has been after one of these for ages. I am making him wait until his birthday though

  10. LOURAINE WILMOT

Children do love this type of activity, Its fun zipping around outdoors!

  12. Amber Myers

My daughter has a hoverboard and loves it. She’s careful on it so there have been no injuries. This looks like an awesome one!

  13. Tasheena

This looks like a lot of fun to have, I would love to get this for my family.

  14. Terri Steffes

These look like fun to me but I have seen fit people struggle with doing this. It makes me think its not for me!

  15. Gervin Khan

My daughter wanted to buy a hoverboard, and I think this one is perfect for her.

  16. Beth Pierce

This is such a cool toy for the kids. I want them to have more balance.

  17. Cristina Petrini

I have tried over and over again to go there, but they are very bad … the young people instead look like magicians! What else to say I have no knowledge about the product, but from your description it seems really valid and of quality!

  18. Rhian Westbury

I’d be so bad on a hoverboard because I have no balance. I think this is good to teach kids about balance and trying x

  19. steph

That would be amazing for older kids, great for teaching them their balance too

    1. admin

It really is. We often forget to work our core muscles.

  20. Kathy

That looks like a great hoverboard. These sure do make great gifts. My kids both have one too and they love it.

  21. Lavanda Michelle

I got all of my daughter’s hoverboards last year, and it’s such a great alternative for screen time. They are being active and also getting off of the phones. Thanks for sharing!

  22. Heather Castillo

My daughter has been begging me for a hoverboard for so long! I would love to surprise her with one.

  23. Rose Ann Sales

  27. Nisha

I saw this in a friend’s place and the kids seem to have a lot of fun using it . Nice to read the in-depth review and the benefits of using it.

  28. Jasmine Martin

I remember when these hoverboards first came out. I would love to have one for myself even as an adult. They look like they’re a lot of fun.

  29. Beth

A hoverboard looks like a lot of fun! It would be a great gift for the family!

  30. Marysa

We have never had a hoverboard before, although the kids have used them at friends houses. This sounds like a lot of fun!

    1. admin

They are really good fun. The kids love to use it.

  31. Indrani

Wonderful gift idea for this season. I like the health benefits it has.

  32. debra p

What a fabulous gift for the entire family! Looks like it would be so fun.

  34. Khushboo

This is really looks good for kids I might consider to gift my nephew next year.

  35. Melissa Cushing

This is so cool and. My husband has wanted one of these. This one looks really cool and makes the perfect gift 😉

  36. Lyosha

my niece absolutely loves it still. I liked it when it was new but never really got my own (only rented) and in time I lost interest. I think I am still an old school skate board girl

  37. Thena Franssen

Super fun. My kids have done this but I literally have no balance so I’m not about giving it a go!

  38. Alvern

Hmm! I totally forgot that those exist. I’ve been seeing so many electric scooters lately that I didn’t even remember looking online to see if the prices of hoverboards came down. This does look like fun.

  39. Viano Viano

You’re so right. Kids spend an ungodly amount of time on screens these days. The hoverboard seems like a cool alternative. And the health benefits make it even better.

    1. admin

Honestly, anything that helps cut screen time can be a great idea.

  40. Kira Kira

Alessia has wanted one of these for ages , she’d probably break her neck on it though if I’m honest ha

    1. admin

Honestly, if she’s careful when she first uses it she might have a fall and then she’ll get use to it and know exactly what to do. One fall seems to do it though at the most from what I have seen.

  41. Melissa Cushing

What an amazing gift for sure and it looks like your kiddos love this cool hoverboard! I honestly would probably break my neck by hitting the wrong button and going the wrong way… LOL.

    1. admin

You do need to be careful but it is surprising how fast you get the hang of it.

  42. joanna

This is such a great gift idea for teens. I know they are a lot of fun and even if they were a trend a few years ago, they are still very in fashion right now.

    1. admin

This is perfect for teens. My kids all got very excited when it arrived and we have a range of ages!!!

  43. Amalia Silva

This seems like such a fun present, would love t try it myself!!

    1. admin

It is something a bit different and a gift that will be enjoyed.

  44. Clarice

This is indeed cool. My husband has been asking for one and we said that we’re getting him one for his birthday. Thank you for sharing the review. This looks like a great choice.

    1. admin

It is a really good one. It responds well and is easy to get the hang of.

  45. Yemi Edwards

Ive been too scared to get one of these. The kids make it look so easy, I think id spend more time on the ground than in the air lol

    1. admin

You’d be surprised how quickly you take to it. The kids managed to master it in a few tries.

  46. Karen T

This looks so much fun – for me as well as the kids! I’d be worried about falling off but I’d happily take the risk! Shame they still haven’t made flying ones, like in Back To The Future!

  47. claire woods

My son’s seem them but never seem to want one. I’d worry about him falling off.

  48. Jeanette Leighton

These look amazing I’ve never been brave enough to try . My partner has though

  49. fiona d

My experience to date of hoverboards is watching many fails with them on you tube, none of my kids have ever shown interest in them, probably because, like me, their sense of balance is questionable, they look great fun but doubt we’ll ever get one in this house.

  50. lynn neal

This looks great fun and helps to keep them active too!

  51. Anne

My kids would love one of these, I’m pretty sure it would be good for building core strength too. Now, if only you didn’t have to balance (I have none) I’d be using one of these to get around everywhere.

  52. Rebecca Smith

This looks like SO much fun! I know I would certainly fall over if I was on it though haha! Jack would love something like this!

  53. Rachel

My nephew has one of these hoverboards and I was shocked to see how fast they go, though he does love it and thankfully wears a helmet!

As a pointer, it took me ages to wade through all of your ads to find the comment box which was a bit annoying as I then had to load comments to add one!

  54. Rachel

  55. Steph

So much fun can be had with these!! We did segway at Centre parcs and even though it was a strange feeling, it was super fun once you got used to it!

  56. Kira

I defo think if I tried these I would hundred percent fall right on my backside ha!

    1. admin

Ha, that’s why I’ve not tried it yet!!!

  57. Nickolai

I bet these are very intuitive and a great way to work on one’s balance. I don’t think I’d be brave enough to try it at home, but perhaps in a more open space.

    1. admin

It depends on space at home. We did it in the living room near the sofa – in case a soft landing was needed.

  58. Becky

That looks like so much fun. I enjoyed reading the health benefits, I never thought of it requiring balance and core muscles, makes a lot of sense!

    1. admin

I know, I do like to look at these things. My kids are pros with it now!!

  59. Carly Belsey

This is so cool and no I didn’t expect it to have health benefits. This makes it even more amazing. I dont know about the kids but I would love this haha,

    1. admin

It is such a fab product.

  60. Helen B

I have never considered the health benefits of one of these, useful information to know

    1. admin

I know, I do like to be different!!!

  61. ashleigh

My son would love this! I would be too scared I think!

    1. admin

Ha, I’m the same. I’ve not tried it but you should see my kids goooooooo!!!!

  62. Margaret Clarkson

What a fabulous gadget! it looks like it would be amazing fun to use.

    1. admin

It really is and the kids took to it super fast too!

  63. Gemma Hendry

ive seen a lot of kids with these, my little one is too young but im sure she will love when older

    1. admin

      They are really good fun!!!

  64. Sally Collingwood

Wow, I am not sure if I would have the balance not to fall off.

  65. Michael Gunning

I could just see myself on You’ve been framed if I get on one of these…one for the young ones I think…

  66. Felicity Williams

Very interesting, but to me looks quite scary x

    1. admin

The kids love it!!! They were anxious at first but took to it super fast x

  67. Laura

This would cause lots of arguments in my house as to which child’s turn it is to have a go 😅

  68. Dragonfly63

These look great fun for my grown up ‘adrenaline junkie’ children. They love anything that tests them to their limits and the grandchildren would grow up being used to them and probably become proficient quite quickly.

  69. Gul Akkaya

This looks really fun, I would love to get one myself and learn how to use it.

    1. admin

It’s easy to use according to the kids.

  70. Sarah Cooper

The hoverboard looks such fun! I think the whole family would love it!

    1. admin

We did love this as it gets the kids laughing and challenging each other.

  71. Wendy Lam-Vechi

If I lived in a bigger house with a garden then I would definitely get this. Sadly the area I live has really small pavements and I live in a flat with little space for my kids to use this. I would personally love this too if I had the space

    1. admin

That’s a shame, these are such great fun. Maybe when you move it’ll be better suited x

  72. Coldi

My daughter asked for a hover board for Christmas after trying her cousins. We had already got her gifts, so I think this might be on the birthday list!!

    1. admin

That’s a great idea and one less gift to worry about too!

  73. Rebecca W

These look great but not sure i’d be able to balance on one!

    1. admin

You’d be surprised. the kids did an amazing job. They took to it very quickly.

  74. claire woods

I really don’t fancy having a go on this myself but can see why kids would love it.

    1. admin

It is a great toy and great for indoor and outdoor use.

  75. Jeanette Leighton

I have never tried one or my children. They look like great fun and something I would purchase for my son when he’s a bit older

    1. admin

It is such a great gadget. I’m sure your son will love it when you buy one.
