Collaborative post. My children love to help me with my work. It’s great that we get the opportunity to spend time together doing this with some of my projects. When Jaques Of London asked us to review some of their toys we thought it would be the perfect activity for us all. Many of you will already have heard of Jaques London. They have been creating and making toys since 1795. This company has a wide range of great wooden toys available on their site. You’ll discover a wide range of indoor and outdoor games for a wide range of age groups. In this post, we look at two of the great wooden toys from Jaques that really stood out to us.
Great Wooden Toys from Jaques
Chinese Checkers
After a browse through the website, we decided we really wanted to review the Chinese Checkers. This is a really fun game. I’ve not had the chance to play for years and I felt nostalgic when I saw it on the site. I really wanted to teach my children how to play, and this was the perfect opportunity. The toy came beautifully packaged in a decorated cardboard box wrapped with a pretty ribbon. I could see plenty of children getting super excited by one of these.
Open the box and you’ll find each toy has been personally packed and there is a card with the name of the person that packed the toy for you. It’s such a lovely personal touch.
The Chinese Checkers game is really good fun. The board itself is beautiful. It’s handmade, hand finished with a lovely gloss varnish. It also features a free Go Bang game on the reverse which we plan to try out soon – we’re enjoying the Chinese checkers so much we’ve not yet had a chance to learn how to play that yet. I have to admit I’m really loving playing this with the kids.
The pegs that come with the game are all perfectly cut and brightly coloured. The great thing about this game is that it works for 2, 3, 4 or 6 players making it the ideal family game. The aim of the game is to get your 10 colourful pegs to the opposite star point first. It’s easy enough to get the hang of and I’m dreading when the kids have played a few more times as they’ll learn all my winning techniques and I’ll have no chance of winning!!!
Kids Construction Bench
I remember my brother had a toy like this when we were kids and we both loved it! It’s for age 3 plus and as my son sees my husband doing all sorts of maintenance around the house and also sometimes when he goes with him to work he wants to do the same. Children do like to try to emulate their parents, other children and things they see on tv. This toy is ideal for any child that wants to play at fixing and putting things together. It’s also good to help spark their creativity.
The kids construction bench is a great toy to help children develop their fine motor skills. They loosen and tighten the screws, take things apart and also hammer.
The tools included are easy to use and children will get to learn what they are used for and how to use each as they play. In the box, you’ll find a hammer, a screwdriver, wrench and ruler. It also has removable screws and a removable shelf.
The kid’s construction bench is brightly coloured making it very attractive to children. The toy is made of 100% FSC Approved wood and has water-based paint for safe play. The toy is light so children can lift it and adjust parts easily. The construction bench packs away easily in the box it comes in to keep it tidy and prevent any pieces from getting lost.
What Did We Think Overall?
The toys are of great quality and very durable. A good thing to consider when shopping for children. Unlike many plastic toys these will last far beyond your needs. They are also really light so easy for little ones to pick up and move about – always good as we know kids can’t stay still for too long. The toys are all beautifully decorated and lovely and colourful making them very appealing to children. They look like toys straight out of Santa’s workshop which is something that I really love and makes them the perfect gifts to give at Christmas. Delivery was super fast and the packages once removed from the outer packaging bag looks perfect as it is so you don’t even have to wrap them!!!
The toys on the website are all reasonably priced. You can get all sorts of Great Wooden Toys from Jaques making it an easy place to shop for a range of recipients.
Have you ever bought from Jaques London before? If you have which great wooden toys have you bought? If not, who would you buy for?
