How to Create a Healthy Morning Routine

How to Create a Healthy Morning Routine

Collaborative post. Your morning routine is crucial to your overall well-being and can make or break your day. Even if you’re a night owl, there are simple habits you can create to make your morning more refreshing and productive. You’ll likely be looking to add more natural products to your skincare routine. This will include using natural face and body products creams and natural deodorants before you start your day.

Here are 5 tips to create a healthy morning routine that can help you get out of bed and face the day with a little more enthusiasm.

How to Create a Healthy Morning Routine

Let Natural Light In

Although you may not realise it, natural light is central to any healthy morning routine, and exposing yourself to sunlight is key to helping your body realise it’s time to wake up and start your day.
Facing the bright light of day first thing in the morning can not only help you become more alert throughout the day, but it can also leave you feeling sleepier earlier in the evening, making it easier to get to bed on time. So, before you do anything else, open your curtains and window as soon as you get out of bed, and take a moment to breathe deeply and enjoy the fresh air.

Eat a Nutritious Breakfast

Starting your day with a balanced breakfast doesn’t just fill your stomach. It also energises you and provides fuel for the day ahead. Eating a nutritious meal first thing can give your morning a much-needed boost, especially if you centre it around healthy ingredients like whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. Breakfasts that are high in protein, healthy fats, and complex carbs will help you feel fuller for longer and give you a long-lasting energy boost as you move through your day.

Drink Water

Don’t forget to stay hydrated. Hydration is key to every bodily function, yet most of us aren’t drinking enough water in a day. To start your day right, drink a huge glass of water as soon as you wake up. Add some lemon for an extra kick and set a full glass on your bedside table before you go to sleep so that you don’t forget.

Make a to-do list

Jotting down essential tasks on a to-do list first thing in the morning can help you keep track of everything you need to handle at home or at work. It also allows you to prioritise your responsibilities and gives you a clearer idea of what items are better suited for tomorrow’s to-do list, keeping your workload more manageable and reducing feelings of overwhelm.
Setting aside just five minutes to write down everything you need to do acts as a paper or electronic reminder, leaving you feeling more in control and reducing the risk of forgetting to take care of something important.

Practice Some Gentle Exercise

Incorporating some gentle morning exercise is another great way to get your day off to a healthy start and can increase blood flow throughout your body, energising you and improving cardiovascular health. Exercise in the morning may also boost important brain functions like decision-making, working memory and attention. Whether you prefer to walk your dog, do some yoga, or head to the gym or use a running machine, any type of exercise will fight fatigue and boost your energy, so you can feel more prepared for the day ahead.

Conclusion

The way we start our morning can have a big impact on how we feel and how productive we are as we go about our day, and implementing a healthy morning regime is said to boost happiness, increase productivity, reduce stress levels, and get you grounded and settled for the day ahead. By following the above steps to implement some simple healthy habits, you can ensure you always wake up refreshed and start every day well.

Yes! I do all of this. My husband and I wake up before the kids, get a workout in, then I shower then open all the blinds because the sun is coming up at that time. We have breakfast as a family, then make out our to-do lists. If it’s a school day, that waits until we get the kids to school.
