Flavours of Italy Winchmore Hill

(Updated) On a mission to visit some new restaurants, I went along with some friends to Flavours of Italy Winchmore Hill. This Italian restaurant serves a range of delicious Italian flavours from the North of Italy to the fortunate residents of North London. Dishes include homemade pasta, pizzas, gilled meats, and seafood. They’re very passionate about their food and all ingredients are fresh and of the highest quality. They even use flour imported from Italy to make their fresh pizzas. Their dough is aged for 24 hours to ensure that they are light, perfectly crisp and flavourful.

On our visit, we tried some lovely dishes including:

Starters

Calamari Fritti

The classic starter that everyone loves. Calamari fritti basically comprises of fried battered calamari. This is served with tartar sauce on a bed of lettuce leaves. The dish was great. The calamari was tender, the batter was perfectly seasoned and crispy.

Parmigiana di Melanzane

Another fabulous classic. This dish combines aubergine, tomato, basil, mozzarella, and parmesan. This is baked in the oven and served hot. The dish is full of flavour and the cheese is fabulously stringy. This is a lovely comfort dish in the winter. It’s available in starter size and also as a main dish. It really is a must try dish!!!

Mains

Diavola

With plenty of flavour rich tomato sauce, fior di latte mozzarella, spicy nduja sausage, salami & jalapeno this is one for those heat lovers!!! It packs a punch and wakes up those taste buds. A popular option as a few of my friends ordered these.

Spaghetti Aglio Olio

Although a very simple dish it is also very tasty. This has recently become one of my favourite pasta dishes when I want something that is simple in flavour but also packs a punch. The spaghetti aglio olio is also a great dish to make at home as it’s simple and quick to prepare. Ideal if you’re hungry.

Tagliatelle Mare E Monti

Large succulent king prawns, perfectly cooked fresh courgette and fresh ripe cherry tomatoes are the stars of this dish. They are tossed together with prawns and tagliatelle in a delicious white wine sauce. This is a great dish for any seafood lover and has a great mix of flavours and textures which keep it interesting.

What Did We Think?

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal and we all agreed to come come as soon as possible to try some of the other dishes on the menu. All the dishes were full of flavour. Portion sizes were good, and prices were reasonable too. The staff were very friendly and I can see why people rave about this place. Although quiet when we initially arrived it soon picked up so we were pleased when had phoned ahead and booked a table. We hope to sample some of their desserts on our next visit. I’m planning on trying the Tiramisu!!!

Thanks so much for visiting. I hope you enjoyed finding out about Flavours of Italy Winchmore Hill. It is so easy to get Parmigiana di Melanzane wrong but when it’s done right, it is such a heart warming dish and one of my favourite Italian starter dishes.
