Bold, beautiful and full of charm, tiles, whether they are plain or patterned, are the perfect way to add character and colour to your
home. It’s easy to play it safe when decorating. Many tend to stick to minimalist surfaces such as the ever-popular colour scheme of magnolia walls and beige flooring. But, by creating a design with patterned tiles you can turn both floors and walls into a gorgeous focal feature and of course add a wonderful, stylish look to your home.

When tiling we need to make sure we’re not too overzealous with our designs. Following these golden rules will help keep our designs looking sophisticated, eye-catching and in some cases give a more luxurious feel to the room.
Use patterned tiles sparingly for maximum effect.
When using patterned tiles across a large area try to alternate with white tiles to break up the pattern and make individual tiles stand out.
Patterned tiles stand out dramatically when paired with subtle surfaces in greys, whites, creams and new neutrals.
Combine Shabby Chic with Patchwork Tiles
You can add a fabulous rustic charm to any home with well-co-ordinated patchwork tiles. It’s easy to do and there are different ways to incorporate this into a room. You could consider something simple like a striking splashback or go large and create a feature wall in your cooking space to give it a warm, country kitchen feel. Bright, bold patchwork tiles placed strategically in a small space is a great way to inject colour into a room.

Create a Year-Round Summer Feel with Moroccan Tiles
Moroccan tiles are a great way to brighten up an otherwise drab and dull room. There are many different ways to breathe life into a room. A warm colour palette is exactly what you need to evoke memories of warm, sunny climates. In fact, they can also help elevate your mood. Look at using yellows and oranges to elicit a warm, inviting positive feel to a room. Moroccan tiles are always on trend and with their intricate geometric designs and earthy colour palettes, they are ideal to use to create a design feature on a floor or on one wall. In excess, they can be overpowering so limit the use to one part of a room. Consider framing the tiles for a great effect over alcoves, chimney breast cavities
or fireplaces.

Traditional Tiles for a Classic Look
To create a classic yet luxurious look that is traditional but also stands out, consider the use of Victoriana floral tile patterns. Often available in subtle colours such as greyscale and monochrome they can work exceptionally well on large surfaces. Traditional prints in blue colour palettes capture the feeling of quaint European pottery and are ideal for bringing continental charm to a space.

Don’t limit yourself to printed tiles for walls and floors to create eye-catching patterns. Combine a range of complementary colours for a gorgeous pattern effect. The following work well:

Patterns can certainly bring life to the room especially when they have such amazing geometrics. I love Moroccan tiles too and lately, as we’ve being renovating the kitchen, we’ve had some cool tiles on the walls around the countertops.

I have been considering a small renovation in my kitchen, particularly getting new tiles for the backsplash. I think I will go with Moroccan tiles. They are beautiful!

Patterned tiles definitely give some character to your home! I am a big fan of Moroccan tiles.
Moroccan tiles do look great in the home. Tiles are a great addition to any home.
We would love some floral tiles in our bathroom and they are great for an update! Floor tiles would be awesome in our kitchen too!

We decorated our whole house last year from top to bottom and the hardest thing for us was choosing bathroom and kitchen tiles. It took almost two months to decide on the right ones. There are so many to choose from and so many patterns
There are loads to choose from but if you get it right the rooms will look great for many years to come 🙂

I love these design suggestions. I need new countertops and a new backsplash in my kitchen and get overwhelmed at the large number of choices.I can’t decide, and needless to say I have no new counters yet. Hopefully by end of summer!
