Is Engineered Wood Flooring Right for You?

(collaborative) If you are considering a wood floor for your home, you should definitely think about opting for engineered wood floors. These are beautiful options that fit in with a variety of designs, and they are sure to look impressive when combined with the rest of your decorating tastes. Here are some of the reasons why engineered wood flooring could be right for you.

You Want Something That Looks Good

It does not get much better than a stunning wooden floor.  Trust me I should know, each time we lay a new one in a property the compliments come rolling in.  Step into any older property and it is likely that they will have some beautiful wooden floorboards in at least one of the rooms. Wooden floors are also proving incredibly popular in modern properties too. Most of the properties we work on now will have wooden floors somewhere. Engineered wood flooring can truly fit into any design that you might have.

With the wide range of colours and styles available out there too, it should not be too difficult for you to grab your ideal wood flooring. When deciding what to use start with the hardness and then the colour or type of wood that you want.  But, be prepared to change your mind when you see some of the many options available! Honestly, the range of choices is fantastic, it can make it extremely hard to choose just the one.

You Want Something Durable

Wooden floors are one of the most durable types of floor that you could choose, and it often takes years for them to show signs of wear.  In fact, many wooden floors are sealed to make them even more hardwearing. You are guaranteed to find a wooden floor that fits your needs and lasts for decades when looked after properly.

It’s important to also think about the maintenance of the floor. Despite what you might think, wood floors are actually surprisingly easy to take care of. With as little as a sweep a day with some more in-depth cleaning every now and then, you might be surprised to find out how little effort it can take to keep your floors looking good. The best product to use on your floor is a flat microfiber mop as it is abrasive enough to loosen dirt without damaging the floor.

You Want Something Warm

No-one likes a stone cold floor underfoot, especially in the middle of the night or during winter. Luckily, wooden floors are a great option here. They are warmer to the touch than some other types of flooring, especially in well insulated homes.  Of course, this doesn’t mean that your wooden floors will be hot underfoot, but they will still be warmer than other options you could go for. You can also add rugs to add a cosy feel and look to a room and make the floor feel warmer.

Engineered wood is a fantastic option for flooring that more people should definitely consider. They are always going to be comfortable, stylish and will suit many different decorating tastes. If you are thinking about updating your floors soon, you should definitely consider using wood floors.

Have you opted for wooden floors in your how yet? If not, are they something you would love to have in your home too?  Do you think Engineered Wood Flooring Right for You?

I love engineered hardwood but we went with vinyl since it’s waterproof. We have pets and little kids. Hardwood will come later in life!

    1. admin

It’s something to look forward to from the sound of it. We find it isn’t too bad with kids. Our wooden floors are in great condition.

I love engineered hardwood the laminated only gives a ‘veneer’ of respectability and ‘yew’ will soon see ‘alder’ MDF underneath when thin veneer wears away. Laminate is temporary but engineered wood is there ‘fir’ life. I ‘plum’ for real ‘walnut’ to ‘spruce’ up my living room. It has become very ‘poplar’ at the moment because its not just ‘plane’ wood but has the look I ‘pine’ for

      1. admin

Lol, thanks for the comment John. Hardwood is always a winner with me.

  7. Melissa Dixon

I love the look of this and have a room in my basement that I am thinking about changing the floor in. This may be a good idea for me.

    1. admin

Me too. They really do look lovely.

  9. Rosey

Wooden floors actually do feel better under foot. I like the resiliency of marble/tiles but I prefer a wood floor for comfort alone, every time. I also think they’re pretty and engineered wood is so easy to take care of too.

  10. Helen B

We were not sure whether to have engineered hardwood flooring on our new home but decided on luxury vinyl instead due to ease of maintenance with older pets and the occasional accident.

    1. admin

It can be hard to decide what to use sometimes.

We used to when we lived in our house. Since weve been in the bungalow, we felt the need for carpet as we had a feeling it would have been cold with wood flooring.

    1. admin

The flooring we choose must first and foremost suit our needs. Carpet can suit some homes better than others.

  38. Samantha Stone

Love the look, but with having a family we opted for vinyl.

  39. Samantha Stone

  57. Chanise Kemp

No we don’t unfortunately! I love wood flooring but I have to have carpet in my living room to make it feel warmer and my kitchen already had a nice Lino down

  58. Maria Messruther

We have hardwood flooring when we bought the bungalow it was that all the way through. Its good but its easily scratched and damaged. I have a 12yr old and a 7mth old so its great for their messes but it is cold and slippy for the 7mth old to try crawl and walk on. Ive gone flying and landed on my back once and nearly gone more times than I can count lol. When we redo bedrooms we will definitely be putting carpet in. The room and kitchen we arent sure yet
