Gel-a-Peel Sparkle Bead Station

We were really loving the Gel-a-Peel products as some of you will be aware from our previous post Gel-a-Peel Pearly Pastel Kit.  The range is varied and great fun for those that love arts and crafts.  The set helps to promote creativity in children.  The only limit with these is the span of the imagination and you can buy the gels on their own which is handy.  We were sent the Sparkle Bead Station for mummy the children to play with.  This kit provides you with everything you need to make your own jewellery and it’s great to make a range of items from rings, bracelets, earrings, necklaces to headbands.  You can even make pencil grips with this kit.

What’s In The Box?

A bead station with 6 rods.  One rod was larger than the rest to allow for larger beads to be made and also pencil grips.

There are 3 brightly coloured and glittery gels in the pack, enough to make over 100 beads.  The colours include Sparkle Seafoam, Sparkle Fuchsia, Sparkle Violet.

4 nozzles to pipe the gel one of which is flat shaped to make wider beads.

A design template.

Earring hooks so you can make earrings.

String for making necklaces, bracelets and headbands.

Instructions.

How To Use The Gel / Make The Beads

The beads are simple to make.  Simply open the gel tube by removing the stopper under the lid which helps keep it airtight.  You then screw on the nozzle and start piping.  You need to make a solid line to make a full circle to create the bead as otherwise it will fall off the string.  You can use the thin or thick nozzle to pipe the beads.

Let the gel dry a little before adding any further gel patterns.  Then we left the beads to dry over night to make sure they were dry all through before attempting to remove them from the rod.

What Did Mummy Think?

I love the fact it’s so easy for my girls to use, they don’t even need supervision for this.  The bead station is great as you can pull it out – make it larger when you need to dry beads the rest of the time it can still be used in its compact smaller form and this is great to help reduce the amount of space it uses.  As it’s compact it is also easy to transport so children can take it to a playdate or relatives house easily.  The gel doesn’t drip when it comes out so there is generally very little mess.  The girls did a great job and the more they practise at making the beads and controlling the amount of the gel coming out of the tube the better their beads will become.  It’s great that you can use gels from other packs like we did so you can create hundreds of unique designs.

What Did The Girls Think?

The girls loved this as they found it simple to use and they were able to get creative when making the beads.  They were really excited by the colours of the gel and the fact they were glittery – girls do love glitter!  As I mentioned you are limited only by creativity and the girls enjoyed decorating the beads with the gels from this pack and also that from the Gel-a-Peel Pearly Pastel Kit.  They even added sticky gems to add to the uniqueness of their beads.

These make great gifts and are so much fun to use that I would even suggest them for adults that are into arts and crafts as they are bound to find many uses for them.  It’s not just fun using the kit it’s also quite relaxing and encourages team work when children are playing / using it together.  My girls were great, they took it in turns to pipe whilst the other turned the wheel and I was loving that they worked so well together – you’d have thought they never fight if you had seen them.  This truly is a Fab Find!
