Protect Your Personal Finances
The first thing you need to do is make sure that your personal finances are not at risk. The structure of your company is very important here, so make sure you know what a company limited by guarantee is and what a limited liability company is. These are business structures that separate your personal finances from the business and give you protection, so you are not liable for all of the debts. However, if your company is not a limited liability or limited by guarantee, you might be on the hook for debt payments and that makes things a lot more difficult. Taking steps to separate your personal finances from the business is key.
Cut Spending
Next, you need to take a close look at your spending and see if you can cut back on anything. You’ll need to make some tough decisions and focus on getting rid of unnecessary expenses. This does not mean you stop everything that could be considered an expense. Just look for places where costs can be reduced or eliminated completely. However, make sure that you don’t make cuts that impact your ability to earn revenue because this will be detrimental to your company. Finding small ways to improve efficiency and cut back will help you improve your finances. But if you have significant debts, you may need to consider drastic action including redundancies.
Speak To The Lenders
Once you have tried to make savings where you can it may also help to speak to the lenders. You may find that you are able to change the repayment plan and find one that is more manageable with your situation. However, some lenders will not be interested in renegotiating the terms. If this occurs and you are struggling even after making adjustments it may be time to start thinking about submitting an insolvency claim.

Consider Selling The Business
If you cannot see a way out of debt, it may be time to cut your losses. Think about selling the business and all of your assets to cover at least some of the money you owe. Although this might seem like a failure, it means that you can start fresh with no debts and your personal finances are not affected. Most great business leaders have some failures in their past. Just put this down as a learning experience and start thinking about your next idea.
Getting your business out of debt can be a challenge. It’s important that you don’t panic if you find yourself in this position. By following these simple Tips to Get A Business Out of Debt you may be able to turn things around for the better.
