Useful Gifts for First Time Parents

Useful Gifts for First Time Parents

I’ve been looking at baby gifts online.  Not for me but for someone close whose partner is expecting.  How exciting.  At the end of this month, they’ll be discovering whether they’ll be having a girl or boy!

When it’s a first child you want to give a gift that is that little bit more special.  I had this in mind as I scoured the internet and have to say it is pretty overwhelming with all the choice online.  I think that it’s important to look at gifts that will be useful to the new parents.

Useful Gifts for First Time Parents

I came across Strawberry Children when looking for a birthday gift for one of my daughters and realised I could multitask and buy a baby gift from here too.  They have some gorgeous children’s clothes for girls and boys ages 0 to 14.  I particularly like the spring styles by Monnalisa and there’s a lovely pink embroidered dress my daughter will also love. For the baby, there are some adorable baby grows, rompers, shorts, t-shirts, dresses etc.  Of course, once I know what they are having I will be a bit more specific when looking at the options available for the baby.

A Baby Monitor

Something I used for all 3 of my children.  A baby monitor from baby monitors direct is the  perfect gift for first-time parents.  There are numerous options on the market.  They are ideal for parents to help reassure them that the baby is okay.  I’d have this in the bedroom with me at night, in the kitchen when cooking if the baby was napping, you get the idea.  There is nothing more important than that reassurance that your child is okay.

First-time parents may not be aware that babies love the sound of their parent’s voice.  Reading to your baby can be a good way to soothe them and to help parents bond with their child.  It’s good to get into the habit of reading to your little one whilst they’re young.  This way they are introduced to books from a young age and it can help develop a love of reading.   Personalised books make lovely gifts and great gift sakes.

Musical Toys

We had all sorts of musical toys when our little ones were babies.  These may also have sections that light up for that extra impact.  These are great for distracting little ones and are often a lifesaver when you are out and about.   My favourite toys were always from Vtech.  They have a great range of options for babies and toddlers which are guaranteed to be loved.  Expertly designed to be held by small hands, colourful and a wide range of options available.

Electric Baby Swing

If first discovered this amazing baby accessory when we went to visit a friend of my husbands before we had children.  I watched as the new parents popped their little one into the swing, turned it on and the baby was gently lulled to sleep.  Naturally, we had to have one of these when we had children.  They’re amazing!  My children all loved their swing and made good use of it.

Are there any items you would suggest that would make a great gift for first-time parents?
