I have been using a collagen facial serum from a company called Proto-col recently. This serum is targeted at mature skin which although mine may not be quite at that stage just yet it does appreciate a little extra tlc on occasion, don’t we all! On the site they do say this can be used on any skin so I’d suggest start early, it’s best to try and slow down the appearance of wrinkles then have to fight them off once they have made an appearance.
This serum is made by combining only the finest quality ingredients including;
Plant derived collagen which is important for skin elasticity. Boosting the collagen content in the skin will help even out skin tone and help keep it looking flawless. Where there are existing wrinkles and fine lines introduction of collagen can help reduce their appearance.
Royal jelly, a natural antibacterial and antibiotic, antioxidant with anti-inflammatory and healing properties also exerts anti wrinkle and anti ageing effects. It even acts as a natural sunscreen.
The serum also contains essential oils including a favourite of mine geranium (Pelagonium graveolens) which from my own experience is a fabulous oil for the skin. This is a staple for any aromatherapist and those that make products using natural products for the skin as it has anti-inflammatory, healing properties and is great for those with eczema, psoriasis, acne, cellulite and dry skin.
This serum is packed full of natural ingredients which is something I really love about it.
On paper it sounds great but what we want to know is does it work?
I’ve been using this serum on a daily basis in the morning and at night applying it both to my face and decollete (neck and upper chest) as advised and it actually does seem to exhibit skin firming effects. The product is dispensed by pump and gives about the right amount to cover the area needed which is handy as it minimises waste. Don’t use a second pump or you will end up with more product than you require. This is super light and absorbs exceptionally well into the skin making it feel firm. I did use a basic moisturiser on top as it isn’t designed as a moisturiser and I always use a serum on top of a moisturiser like most people. This also seems to brighten the appearance of the skin which is great so tired dull skin is transformed into beautiful bright skin.
This was a lovely serum and one that I would use again.
Another product from the same range that I have also been using is Proto-col Microdermabrasion. It is the epitome of a luxury containing nothing but natural products including crushed diamonds and pearls, plant derived collagen, coral seaweed and silk protein to help renew and revitalise the skin. The company suggest leaving this on for a minute so that the glycolic acid can get to work to remove dead skin cells on the surface and encourage fresher, plumper, firmer skin cells to rise to the surface of the skin renewing the complexion and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. The crushed diamonds and pearls work as the exfoliant removing old skin cells to make space for the new and also allowing the various other natural ingredients to do their work. Jojoba oil nourishes, beeswax acts as an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial, Vitamin E is also anti-inflammatory and healing and protects the skin cells from UV damage and environmental pollutants.
This is incredibly light on the skin, gently exfoliating to leave it with a lovely glow and a soft, smooth finish. It is advised that you use this once a week which is great as it lasts ages. After using this I would apply the collagen facial serum. These work well together and the result is softer, smoother brighter looking skin within a week and a half to two weeks at the most. Of course continued use over time yields further improvements so it’s best to continue applications.
Trust pilot has awarded this company with a pretty big 7 out of 10 which is good to know. If you read the reviews there you will see quite a large number of repeat purchasers indicating this company is doing a great job,
Have you tried any Proto-col products yet?
