Quick and Simple Hummus

Hummus is loved by just about everyone.  In fact, I can safely say there is not a single adult I have yet to meet that doesn’t enjoy this delicious creamy and I hasten to add healthy dip that can be used with kebabs, crudités, salads and more.  Not only does hummus taste great it is also simple to make which is great news and my recipe should give a gorgeous creamy version of the dip.  Want to lighten it up a little simply add a touch more water for a thinner consistency.

Full of super foods this great dip can be tweaked to create a whole range of recipes some of which I hope to try and share with you all at a later date including avocado hummus, roasted pepper, jalapeno and coriander hummus.

Hummus is full of a range of nutrients and is protein rich.  This yummy dip is great at balancing blood sugar levels and also reducing cholesterol.  It is though that this dip can also help prevent against cancer and reduce the risk of heart attacks.  So get those blenders out and let’s get making hummus!!!

Ingredients

1 tin 240g cooked chickpeas

1 clove of garlic

3 ½ – 4 tbs Water

1 ½ tbs olive oil

3-3.5tbs lemon juice

2 tbp tahini

¼ – ½ tsp salt

¼ tsp cumin

Drizzle of olive oil for serving

Method

Throw the clove of garlic and the tahini into a blender and blend until it thickens.

Then just add in the rest of the ingredients and blend until you get to your desired consistency.  You will need to scrape down the edges a few times so no chunks escape.  Some prefer smooth others coarse but either way you have full control over creating your favourite.
