Prioritize Customer Satisfaction
Making sure your clients are happy is important. It’s what will get you repeat business and plenty of recommendations. Completing projects to a high standard will ensure that you will always have work provided of course the price will influence the amount of work that will come through. Sending out customer satisfaction forms once a project is completed can help identify areas for improvement. Consider including positive reviews directly from clients on your website quoting who they are from.
Have Flexible Payment Options
Making payment for services easy by having a range of options available is important. Many freelancers will work with clients in their own country as well as those from other countries. Businesses will have a few payment methods available. Providing options for payments is important. Many will offer Paypal, or payment into a bank account, you can also consider a google search for its suggestions for the best foreign currency account to be able to get your payments easily from foreign clients.
Build your Personal Brand
The number and quality of clients you can attract and the fees they will pay for your services will be greatly reliant on your reputation, online presence, and branding. Make an effort to improve your personal brand by managing your own social media profiles. People identify better with a brand they can relate to. Where you can run your own social media accounts, where you can’t look for a social media management company to do this for you. Create a blog to add to your site if you are not already a blogger. That can be a way that clients can identify with your brand and interact. Comment on marketing platforms to help increase your exposure, this may help bring more clients your way. Some will automate social media posts as it can be very time-consuming. Make sure you follow up and respond to comments time permitting.
Your Rates
You’ll need to set your prices to reflect your experience. Do not undersell yourself, be aware of how much similar businesses charge, and work around those prices. Project prices should be tailored for each client as requirements will vary between projects. In some cases an hourly rate will be appropriate, in others, it may be better to charge for the project to make sure you are able to offer a competitive service.
Some will undercharge in order to be given a project. Although it is understandable, we all need to make a living, it undervalues your work and that of those that work in the same field. Yes, you’ll be a client’s first port of call but will also be paid far less than others offering the same service. In some fields, the client will work with multiple individuals and may be willing to negotiate the fee so don’t be afraid to try.
Bottom Line
Being a freelancer allows you to earn extra money and may also have additional perks. However, there is more to being a successful freelancer. You’ll need to have good customer service skills, a strong personal brand, reasonable rates, and flexible payment options.
Do you have any tips you can suggest for freelancers?
