Many of us scour book reviews and ask fellow bibliophile friends for recommendations to find just the right book to read before bed at night or to take on our summer holidays. I’ve recently come across a book that I really enjoyed reading. The book was sent to me by a lovely pr lady that I’ve known for many years. This could be just what you are looking for as a great book to relax with at home, or by a pool, or on the beach. My French Destiny review tells you all about this lovely novel (part one of a trilogy) written by Stephanie Jean.

French Destiny
The Story
Searching for a new and exhilarating life abroad together, Angie and Mike sell up and emigrate with the view to enjoy the intoxicating sun, scenery, and atmosphere of Provence. But, unforeseen consequences force them to review their relationship and results in their lives and desires for the future being turned completely upside down.
Angie could never have predicted how much the French locals, would begin to become an intrinsic part of her life. From the likes of neighbour Henri, the gorgeous, sophisticated, suave aristocrat publisher, to Pierre, the humble, illiterate peasant farmer who mainly kept to himself. This is a story of burning romance, passion, unforeseen intrigues, excitement, happiness, and despair. The French Destiny Book 1 is the perfect summer read for 2023.
About the Author
Stephanie Jean is a life coach. She has written many articles over the years which culminated in her journey to creating the wonderful French Destiny Trilogy. Her passion for writing is what makes this novel such an interesting and enjoyable read. Stephanie has admitted that she writes constantly, “it is my passion and never a chore, I have no idea what writer’s block means!”.
Her long career as a life coach means that Stephanie has an exceptional grasp of human connection and what makes a person so layered and unique. Making characters multidimensional adds intrigue and interest in the characters.
The collection of characters in this book are diverse. Stephanie crafts the group due to her belief that people go through changes at a “certain age” usually between late forties to early fifties and again in early or mid sixties. She believes that at this stage, we are old enough to know what we want or how to implement our dreams. “France has always, and still does, provide the rural nostalgia of the perfect romantic life. Many people long for Sun soaked terraces, with fragrant lavender coupled with a glass of chilled rose”

What Did I Think?
If I was to sum it up in three words “I loved it!”
I literally didn’t want the kids or husband to interrupt whilst I was reading. The quality of the writing and the depth of each character were perfect. The layers created for each of the main characters help them to come alive in your mind. Each character comes with its own pros and cons and relationships. They have been carefully and masterfully woven together by the author. Each character becomes more than merely a name on a page.
You find yourself emotionally invested in the characters and having genuine concern as to what may happen next with each situation that arises and concern for their predicament. I found the main character Angie very believable and could relate to her wanting to go and live in a warmer, sunnier, drier climate than that of the UK. The book made me yearn to visit the South of France as I’ve never been.
The book gave me food for thought. I considered whether I’d emigrate in my later years, why men wear socks with sandals, and the impact of an overbearing parent on one’s life and more.
I really enjoyed reading this book. In fact, I sat reading the book for hours on end (often interrupted by the kids). I couldn’t stop as I couldn’t wait to find out what would happen after each stage of the book.
Your summer will be complete with this lovely novel. You’ll be eagerly awaiting to read the other 2 in the trilogy once you’ve read this.
All three books are available for just £3.49 on kindle.
I hope you enjoyed finding out about the lovely romantic novel French Destiny.
