She gives us life,

She cleans, she dresses.

She cleans up all our smelly messes.

She helps us walk and talk and play,

She shows her love in her actions each day.

First day of school she cries outside.

She’ll watch us win first place with pride.

Through school, college, uni she shows she cares

Through little things she does with flair.

 ~

She wipes away tears over many years.

Through break ups and make ups

her supports always there.

Then come the little ones and from when they are young

they love to see Grandma as “she’s so much fun!”

 ~

Now a mum myself I appreciate more

the things my mum did as a parent before.

So on this coming Mother’s Day to brighten her day

I’ll buy her flowers as I know she will say

“I really love freesias lilac, yellow and pink.

The colours are lovely, so pretty don’t you think!

They smell fabulous too, their scent fills the room.

Their buds still to open, they’ll open really soon.

A beautiful gift, thanks so very much,
