We were gifted birthday gifts from Moonpig that were perfect for a 6th year old, for an honest review.
Children grow up so quickly and we as a family feel it is important to celebrate each of their birthdays. With all that is happening it’s harder for us to get everything we need. Multiple shopping trips are required and even then, finding a wide range of items such as balloons, birthday gifts, cards in one place isn’t easy.
Moonpig was always an internet card shop in my mind. Each year we’d get photo cards from friends and family for the kids, but I had no idea that their product line had greatly expanded. Gone are the days where they just provided cards. Now you can find almost everything you could need to have a fabulous birthday celebration at home.
Cards
I’m not the best when it comes to shopping online. I’m always worried I’d mess something up. Surprisingly I managed to select cards, chose my wording, and get them delivered without any issues whatsoever. I was relieved to see how easy the site was to use and the number of card options available, from character cards to those that you upload a picture. You could pick from standard, large and giant cards and there was even an ecard available. Everything including creating personalised cards was amazingly simple.
Birthday Gifts at Moonpig
With gifts to suit all ages and tastes, I found it interesting to look through the gifts available. They had everything I could need to make sure my little man had a great party at home from themed balloons, a fabulous bake at home cake, and the perfect gifts. So with the options available what would one select for a 6 year old boy?
Rainbow Cake Kit
Every birthday party, even a lockdown party needs a cake right? We’ve been wanting to make a rainbow cake for ages but never gotten around to it. This boxed version comes with everything you need and makes it really simple. It’s so easy even a child can make it, with adult supervision. My eldest and I set about making the cake whilst my son was taken out by my husband so as not to spoil the surprise.
Giant Spiderman Balloon
Balloons for a kid’s birthday are essential. Picked by my son, this 17×29″ helium Spiderman balloon is enormous and perfect for him. It comes with a ribbon and weight. The balloon looks fantastic and completely distracted him as it was the first thing he opened on the day. For a brief moment, he forgot there were other presents to be opened and started playing with the balloon and the humongous box it came in. Seriously, he’d have been happy with the balloon and box. It was wonderful to see how much enjoyment he’s had out of these two items alone.
Marvel Spiderman Gamerverse Great Brew Great Responsibility Mug
Like any other child of my son’s age, he’s really into superheroes. Spiderman is one of his favourites. Having looked at almost all the mugs on the Moonpig site which I must say took a while he picked out a cool Spiderman mug. Many of the other mugs also had an option to add a photo for a more personal touch.
Giant Birthday Cadbury Bar
My cheeky little chap is a chocoholic! He truly loves chocolate and if he just got loads of chocolate for his birthday he would be in heaven. What could possibly be better than the biggest chocolate bar he’s ever seen! A whole 850 grams of the stuff. Honestly, his excitement couldn’t be contained when he saw the massive bar and he was ready to bite through the packaging to get to it. “Best birthday ever!” He was heard to exclaim rather loudly. He’d have been happy with that alone but we had a few more exciting items for him all chosen around things he loves.
Montezuma’s Jar of Milk Buttons
What, more chocolate!!! But of course. With his sisters and father helping him with the big bar it was not destined to last long. Chocolate buttons are one of his favourite things and these are made with organic milk chocolate. We plan to hide these so the others don’t eat them all although mummy is allowed a few thankfully. The chocolate comes in a useful glass jar with kilner-style lid so is perfect for mummy to refill with more buttons after.
There were loads more chocolate items on the site but mummy decided that a toy should be the next gift.
Built-In LED Colour Changing UFO Flying Toy
Having browsed the Moonpig site with me, little man loved the look of this. The remote control flying UFO is perfect as a gift for boys and girls. It changes colour too adding to the fun. The UFO is easy to fly and is controlled by a USB remote control. This allows you to adjust the height that it flies at. The darker the room the better as the LED lights look great flitting around the room.
Miss Patisserie ‘Happy Birthday’ Gift Set
This little guy loves his bath time. He’s not just a fan of bubbles. He also enjoys a spot of pampering with a nicely scented bath bomb. I know, how refined for a 6 year old. The smile on his face when he saw these beautiful bath bombs nestled in a pretty box was priceless. It also highlights that gifts like this are ideal for males as well as females. my husband now wants a box too.
What Did We Think?
Moonpig seemed to have just about everything we could need to cover a birthday for any age group. They somehow managed to have just the sort of things that would suit my son and now my daughters have their eye on a few things on the site too. It was simple to place an order and delivery was very fast. All in all, it was a great service and one I know my friends and family will make full use of.

Looks like lovely gifts from Moonpig. My boys would love these gifts, they are big superhero fans and especially love spiderman.
Spiderman is one of my son’s favourites. I think at that age they really start getting into superheroes.
