Christmas is a time to enjoy the company of family and the joy of the festive season but for many families, tv’s ipads, and other electronic devices can often get in the way. To help keep your little ones away from screens and focused on the value of family as well as keeping them busy on their own too here are some great gift ideas to consider.
Jigsaw Puzzles
My son really loves puzzles as do my girls. I’ve found that puzzles have been a great bonding tool with the kids and my dad. They can spend a considerable amount of time putting them together. For adults and children alike Christmas jigsaw puzzles bring a real sense of nostalgia and can provide hours of entertainment for children both young and old. With puzzles suited for different age groups, there’s no stopping the adults from completing a monster 1000 piece puzzle and the children completing their own 50 piece masterpieces or why not do one altogether and help to teach the next generation how to persevere and find those hidden pieces? Jigsaw puzzles are gifts that keep on giving and can even become a part of a family Christmas tradition where you build one each year.
A Colour in Top
If you’ve been reading my posts lately you will have seen numerous Christmas gift guides with some great competitions. One of the posts featured Colour in Tops from a company called Selfie Clothing. An Arts and Crafts Kit / Toy
As a part of your children’s Christmas gifts, why not give them an arts and crafts kit. Kids love arts and crafts so make sure you have all added extras you might need like glue, kids scissors and anything else that might not come in the pack. There are all sorts of kits available from paint your own money boxes, craft kits where they can get creative, sequin art kits, pictures by number kits, glass stone art and much more. The Fuzzi Babies are a good example of toys that have an arty element and that kids love.

Lego
Lego is a great gift for children no matter their age or gender and many adults will appreciate a set for Christmas too. You can build remote control cars, a princess mansion, the Star Wars Death Star or even an exact small scale replica of a Formula One car, you name it, Lego can help you build it. Why not have a Lego party on the living room floor on Boxing day and build your creations side by side to create a lego empire. Along those lines is the fun game from Strictly Briks, Brik Buster. The aim of the game is to build-up a tower and take it in turns to knock out supporting stacks. The person that knocks down the tower loses. This is compatible with most lego.

The options here are vast. Chose from various types of monopoly which will last for hours. Games like Bunny Jump are a favourite here. Pull My Finger – a game that’ll have the whole family in fits of laughter and much much more.

We were literally talking about this last night. I have 3 children, the girls are 13 and 11 and both have a phone. One tends to watch YouTube and the other chats to friends on Facetime. My son uses our phones sometimes to play games or watch YouTube. My husband wants to try and get them away from their screens and we are trying to think of some ways to do that.
I love the look of the Brik Buster. My little man is only 2 and he loves a tower almost as much as he loves demolishing one!
Arts and crafts and reading have always been my go to! Love this post for ideas and your children are beautiful!
I think my kids would love all of these, especially the pull my finger game!!!
Sometimes we go for a board game or one night we all sat with colouring books. My kids do love their screens but I think we have quite a good balance here.
My middle child loves a good jigsaw. It really does pass the time and avoid having to put the telly on! She likes some of her educational stuff too! Number cards and number games.
These are all great ideas! Especially loving the look of the Selfie clothing range. How fun is that!
My boys love a good jigsaw so they are both getting new jigsaw puzzles for Christmas (also, a little selfishly, so I don’t have to do the same ones with them over and over again!)
I love the sound of the colour in tops from Selfie Clothing. It would definitely keep my kids entertained! We love Lego too, the one toy everyone loves in our house.

Pull my fingers looks like a hilarious game that can keep the children entertained for hours! I like the color in top as well. When I was a child I used to love coloring, it’s a great activity to keep the little ones entertained for longer times.

We are lucky that my nephew doesn’t really like TV but I love these ideas, he does love playing with his lego but has zero patience for puzzles lol
Lego is great, mine spend hours playing with it.
Its half term now and this is one of the problem I have as a mum of two which is to keep them away from screens such as tv, computer and phones. You have shared some fabulous gift/play ideas here and I know they are going to love playing with these items.

I love activities to reduce screen time and I love anything crafty or arty – especially when done listening to some music. My husband and I love board games too.

It sure is. It’s such a lovely idea and there are loads of options available.
I don’t mind my children having screen time in moderation. Luckily they have wide interests and love to colour, do jigsaws and play endless board games too.
It’s important to make sure screen time is controlled. It’s too easy for kids to get into the habit of sitting in front of a screen for excessive amounts of time. It’s great to hear that your children have a wide range of interests.
Some really great activities you’ve got here . We have the biggest jigsaw puzzle collection known to mankind I am sure 🙂
My son loves puzzles too, they great fr little ones and adults tend to enjoy them. My dad has a fair few.
Our kids are on a rotation when it comes to screen time, they play games,(we have that monkey game) they do drawing reading, and we have lots of leg in the house! that they all like doing.

I love all these items. My favourites for my kids are colouring books and jigsaws. Love buying them games and reading books too.
