My little girls love to dress up and I believe it only right to nurture their creative little minds. Only the other day my girls were playing and one was pretending to be Cinderella and the other the evil step mother. You could hear the step mother ordering poor little Cinderella about and it was rather amusing I must admit. But on the other side this can also be educational. Not only can it help inspire children to read it can also help teach them team work when playing with others, help their social and emotional development such as teaching them empathy by helping them understand how the character they are playing may feel, they may face practical problem solving and even negotiation skills.
In toddlers creative play can help with fine (putting clothing on, dressing dolls) and gross motor skills (running, dancing, pushing).
My youngest daughter loves Princesses. She enjoys dressing up as Elsa and putting on her make-up and jewellery. Here she is posing in her gorgeous new Disney Frozen Fever Elsa dress from Tickled Pink Fancy Dress. Doesn’t she look lovely! She was so excited about her new dress when it arrived that she wanted to wear it to bed. The dress looked great on her and on further inspection has been well made without any extra strings hanging anywhere and good stitching to ensure that it will last a fair amount of time which is handy as out of both my girls this one is the most likely to damage her outfit. We loved the colour and all the glitter and she felt like a beautiful Princess wearing this dress.
My daughters love to dress up as scary characters too. My eldest loves vampires and witches especially as she is old enough to read some great books about these sorts of creatures. With her dark hair and pale complexion she doesn’t need much except a little red make-up to finish the look in this super Girls Gothic Vampiress dress again from Tickled Pink. My little vampiress is looking forward to Halloween this year now she has this amazing dress although she will probably wear it quite a few times before then knowing her.
