Spring Clean Your Skin

#AD – Gifted

It’s Springtime, the birds are tweeting, trees are blossoming and many of us are in the Spring cleaning mindset.  It’s important to have a good clean around the home but it is also equally important to Spring clean our skin.

Yes, you heard that correctly.  A good Spring clean of the skin can work wonders.  Removing old dull dead cells allowing the healthy new ones to get their moment in the sunlight and give the skin a healthy glow.

Of course, healthy-looking skin doesn’t happen on its own a bit like the cleaning in your home, it comes with a little effort.  Drinking plenty of water and a diet rich in vegetables and some fruit can work wonders but it’s not just from the inside that we need to approach this.

Spring Clean Your Skin

There are some products that can be great for helping the skin look naturally amazing and I’ve found them.  For the last few weeks, I have been complimented on numerous occasions due to the appearance of my skin.  It’s looking pretty radiant and before anyone asks, no, I’m not pregnant.

Those that are new to my blog will be unaware that I have a degree in natural medicine, Phytotherapy to be precise.  My training as a Medical Herbalist was not only interesting but influences my choices when buying some beauty products.

Handmade Naturals

This multi-award winning company is exactly where many of us that want good quality, vegan and cruelty-free products should be looking for beauty products of various sorts.  They offer natural skin and hair products that are hand-blended in-house using good quality ingredients.  The result, fresh products with a far superior quality from many other competitors.

Products to Help Spring Clean Your Skin

In order to Spring clean our skin we need to do various things.  One of which I am sure many of you will love.  Quite simply put have a nice warm bath.  This is a great way to help open pores and help get rid of dead skin.  The secret ingredient:

Pink Himalayan Bath Salts

This specific option is ideal for those with sensitive skin (but can be used by anyone).  It helps soothe and nourish skin and is extremely beneficial for those that suffer from skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis and acne.  These salts are perfect for detoxifying the skin, helping to draw out toxins, give the skin a deep cleanse.  They are easy to use, simply add to a nice hot bath, mix in to allow them to dissolve in the water and disperse evenly.

I found on using these, my skin felt lovely and soft.  The salts seem to also have a healing effect on scratches and various skin conditions etc.  I do love using salts in my bath as the skin always feels wonderful after.  Of course, this needs to be hidden from the children as they love them too and can be over generous with their pouring.  The salts are perfect for all the family no matter their skin type.  It was extremely beneficial for my husband who has eczema on his hands.

Shower & Bath Gel: Frangipani & Grapefruit

This goes hand in hand with the removal of toxins using the bath salts.  It doesn’t make sense to use the salts and then use a bath gel full of chemicals which is where this product comes in.  The gel has a lovely scent which isn’t overpowering.  It is also free from sulphates (SLS, SLES & ALS), colour and perfume.

This is great for cleansing the skin without stripping it of moisture.  A little goes a long way so you can use this sparingly.  I found my skin didn’t feel dry after using this so didn’t always apply a moisturiser after a shower.  This can be accredited to the glycerine and organic aloe vera leaf juice which have moisturising properties.

Face Cleansing Scrub

Scrubs can be great.  Used regularly they can make our skin look fresh and leave it with a wonderfully healthy glow.  Sometimes, this important step is forgotten in our skin routine as it isn’t something we need to do on a daily basis.  It’s best to use scrubs every 3 to 4 days to get rid of dull, dead skin that can make our skin look radiant.

This particular cleansing scrub is packed with all sorts of wonderful ingredients.  The scrub provides a gentle exfoliation and also nourishes and hydrates.  This leaves the skin feeling fresh, invigorated and looking brighter.  The aroma of sweet orange is gorgeous and light.  For those looking for anti-ageing products, this is ideal.  The scrub ingredients work on reducing the appearance of wrinkles, reduces/prevents collagen deterioration and promotes collagen production.  A must try.  This is easy to dispense and can easily be incorporated into your weekly routine.

Virgin Prickly Pear Oil

This contains the highest Vitamin E content of all the beauty oils available to buy.  That’s 150% more than Argan oil!  The essential fatty acids within the oil help to keep the collagen in our skin healthy.  This also contains the highest concentration of Betalains.  These are especially strong antioxidants which have a powerful anti-ageing effect on the skin.  With regular use, the skin will appear brighter, pigmentation and dark spots will fade as will skin redness.  It doesn’t clog the pores so won’t cause spots.

I loved that this absorbed well into the skin without leaving it feeling greasy.  I used it on its own as a night oil and didn’t need to use a moisturiser with it.  The oil is not only moisturising but also has a nourishing effect and it doesn’t take long for the skin to start to look healthier.  In comparison to other face oils this is a fantastic product and well priced at £9.95.

Handmade Naturals Tanning Cream

We all feel much better with a touch of colour but many still don’t seem to realise how harmful a tan can be.  A tan is a sign your skin is damaged and results in the skin ageing prematurely.  I for one would prefer to look younger rather than older than my age.  To help me do this I wear a high factor all year around.  But, although my skin has a fabulously healthy glow when I give it a good Spring clean it doesn’t stop me looking pasty.  For this reason, I love to use a tanning cream.  This can give me a more sunkissed glow and cuts out the harmful radiation from the sun.  Therefore, my skin is left looking sunkissed and fabulous without being damaged irreversibly in the process.

These are all wonderful products and there are many more on the Handmade Naturals website.

Now for some great news.  I have a wonderful competition to share with my readers.
