Collaborative post. Life is there to be lived. So what do we do? Hopefully, make full use of it is the answer from most. How do we do this? There are all sorts of things we can do to reach our own individual potential and get the most out of our lives. As we try different things we learn new skills which may benefit us now and in the future. Being creative can help us not only learn to do new things it can help with our mental health which will help us in a multitude of ways. Here we look at some Ways to Enjoy Your Own Creativity.
Ways to Enjoy Your Own Creativity
There are all sorts of ways we can get creative. By doing so we not only have fun, we develop our creative skills alongside our physical skills, problem-solving abilities etc. It allows us to relax our mind, explore different things, and can be valuable as a therapeutic tool to reduce stress. You might even discover a creative skill that you excel at and enjoy so much you decide to make it your career.
Learn to Play A Musical Instrument
Learning to play an instrument can be quite amazing. It has multiple benefits including improving memory, both muscle and cognitive, it has an impact on our emotions, increases patience and perseverance, reduces stress and much more. It’s great to start at an early age as it is much easier for us to learn when we are younger. Soon enough you’ll be creating your own music for yourself and others to enjoy.
Write
Writing can be a great way to express ourselves. We can use our writing skills to express emotions both positive and negative. It can be cathartic, allowing us to express emotions or beliefs that we might not feel we can say out loud. You can write a journal for yourself or write something to be shared with others. It’s commonly used as a therapeutic tool used for both children and adults and a great way to release your creative side.
Dabble With Home Design
It can be great fun when you refurbish a property. You can choose all sorts of great things to add to your home. You might even fancy refreshing a room with various items. Plants are always a great addition to a room as is artwork. A gorgeous fluffy rug can also be a lovely addition. I know I’d love a nice big one for my living room. You can even experiment with different types of light designs and colourful lights to make something that fits with your own unique style.
Customize Your Car
Your creative flair can easily be rolled over to your car too. From fluffy dice, decorated seat covers, a design on the outside of the car, even personalised plates. These can all make your car more you and you can be as creative as you wish even down to a flower shaped air freshener. Let loose or be a little more restrained the choice is yours.
Draw Paint or Colour
Being able to draw is a lovely talent to have. It’s also great to be able to get lost in drawing. We’re not all as fortunate as others in our abilities so another option that would work is colouring. There has been a growth in the market for adult colouring books. It is really calming to just sit back and colour as you once did as a child. You can create the most beautiful colourful images. It allows the mind to unwind and relax and block out external stressors as colouring can be quite hypnotic.
Cake Decorating
I love cake decorating although I have very little time to do it myself. You can do something simple or something more complex. Decorating a cake can be fun and a good way to allow your imagination to go wild and let you make some wonderful designs.
As you can see, there are plenty of Ways to Enjoy Your Own Creativity. Do you do any yourself? If not which would you most enjoy looking to do first?

I’d love to do more hands on crafty bits like clay sculpting and stuff like that but I struggle to find the time, but I do love writing x
It can be hard to find time for some activities although writing is easy enough to do almost anywhere.
I love all of the encouragement here. Tapping into your creative side has so many benefits and creating something the world can enjoy is a great way to spend your time.
It sure is. But the key is to do something you enjoy and that helps you relax x

Love this and I like the idea and the simplicity of it to…. Of enjoying your own creativity. I do love crafting and it is rewarding when you have something that you created and love and can cherish for years to come. Or even to gift those things to people near and dear to you. Things that you create and share… make the best gifts 😉 For me cooking and baking too.
A great article on the benefits of artistic works for all ages many thanks
Thanks Terence, it has a positive impact on us all.
My true love is home interiors, I love the creativeness of it and fun of new ways to display things
This is so cool. Love the creativity. Well done.
Writing is my most creative outlet. I’ve kept a personal journal for 21 years now and it pretty much tells my story. It’ll certainly make writing my memoirs extremely easy. I’ve also been a blogger since 2006 and sharing parts of myself publicly has opened me up to a different style of writing. I’ve also written 2 books that I haven’t published yet. I’ve always been in love with words and being able to create magic with them.
Im not creative in the slightest, well so I thought but during the first lockdown when I lost my job I actually really got into making things and crafting with my daughter more than usual and we created some wonderful things from junk haha. It was fun.
I’d love to learn cake decorating but think I need to learn how to bake a cake first 😅

Try a few different things, you might discover you are good at more than you think x
Even though I’m no good at it, I do enjoy being creative, but I have to be feeling inspired to have motivation
After a little practice and trying different things you’ll find something you are good at and enjoy doing too.

Some lovely ideas there. I would lke to try writing as I love word meanings, sentence construction and punctuation.
I am really not creative at all, so none of these appeal to me.
I love to crochet and sew. I also seem to end up collecting all the things for every other craft hobby there is! 😂
I am going to try some new crafts during the winter months and want to get back into knitting.
It’s really important to get a bit more creativity in your life. I just don’t think I have the patience.
