Miller and Carter restaurants can be found across the UK. They are the self-proclaimed “Masters of Steaks” but is this title deserved? I visited and enjoyed my first meal there with friends when we went to celebrate a birthday. For this occasion, we visited the site in Brookmans Park. When I arrived, the parking spaces were all full but it wasn’t too long before an earlier diner left and I was able to park. I’d suggest getting there about 10 minutes earlier than you need to in order to make sure you get a space.

The Restaurant
The restaurant covers two floors. When I arrived there were a few tables available on the ground floor but these quickly filled up. With the number of people there it did get rather noisy in the restaurant and we found ourselves speaking loudly to be heard amongst the group.
The Food
Although this is a steakhouse, there are a range of other options on the menu too. In addition to steak, you will find burgers, various fish dishes, lamb, ribs, salads, and more. There are also a range of great sides to bulk up your meal if required. All the steaks are served with a lettuce wedge that comes with a choice of dressings. The burgers all come with either seasoned fries or a mixed salad. There are also vegan options available although these are limited as it is primarily a steakhouse. To end your meal, choose from one of the delicious desserts available.

The Service
The waitress we had for the evening was very friendly and efficient. Although not her fault we had to wait about 50 minutes for any food to arrive after we ordered. This was a bit unexpected and we were pretty ravenous when our meals did finally arrive at the table. No one spoke for the first 5 minutes as we were all focused on eating.
Starters
Spicy Buffalo Wings
The skin on the wings was nice and crispy and they were coated in a hot barbecue sauce and accompanied by a blue cheese dip. These we very tasty and the portion size was reasonable. The only things left were the bones and some left over sauce.

Salt and Pepper Calamari
The portion looks a little larger thanit actually is. These are served in a pot surrounded by paper. The part you don’t see is thatthe paper is scrunched up below which makes it look like the serving was larger than it actually was. Other than that, these were nice and chunky, The coating was lovely and crispy, the batter had a great flavour and the calamari wasn’t stringy. These were served with an oak smoked garlic & lemon aioli dip which complemented the squid perfectly.
House Nachos
The house-fried tortilla and corn nacho chips, are coated with a Cheddar cheese sauce, tomato salsa, sour cream, smashed avocado, and a sprinkling of jalapeños. As a starter it looked great but it was a bit disappointing when it came to the flavour. The cheese sauce let it down. This would have worked so much better with a sprinkling of Cheddar and a quick blast under the grill to melt the cheese. It’s the only dish from those tried that we wouldn’t order there again.
Mains
Fillet Steak/Sirloin Steak
These were popular steak amongst the group and was served with parsley butter, balsamic beef tomato, onion loaf, our choice of steak sauce, and a lettuce wedge with our choice of dressing. There were different sauce options available including classic bearnaise sauce, creamy Diane, and three peppercorn as well as others. The server also made sure to check how each person wanted their steak cooked as would be expected in any good restaurant. The portion size is great. the beef melts in the mouth. This is the ideal dish for any meat lover.

Miller’s Steak House Dirty Burger
The burger is made with 30 day aged prime beef. This is topped with pulled beef barbacoa, tender sliced fillet tails cooked to the diner’s preference, onion loaf, smoked Cheddar cheese, and special recipe burger sauce. It is served with beef dripping sauce for dipping. This is a pretty chunky burger. Attack it all in one at your own peril. It was full of flavour and had and made up of an interesting mix of items that combined well.
Desserts
It was a bit late by this stage and we were all feeling tired so we decided to skip desserts and go home. Maybe next time!!!
What Did I Think?
I was pleased to see that you had extras that came with meals so burgers were accompanied by fries for example. This was a big bonus in my eyes as we had recently been to Bramleys in Oakwood where items had to be added and were not included with the meal. There aren’t many good restaurants that don’t serve chips with a burger. It’s essential !!! The food as a whole was extremely good. It is one of the best restaurants we visited recently. The food options on the whole were exceptional and it’s easy to see why. As a result, it’s one that needs to be booked in advance! We would all definitely dine at Miller and Carter Brookmans Park again and I’ve already started recommending it to family and friends.
For those who love vegan food, there are some dishes you can choose from at this restaurant, but failing that there are plenty of great restaurants in London that serve a wider range of options. You’ll even find great places that do yummy vegan breakfasts and brunches.

Sounds like they have some great dishes. I looked at the desserts on the menu and they all sound heavenly.. the mango bomb, the cheesecake, the caramel biscuit torte… oh my so much to indulge my sweet tooth

Their food selection looks great. I would love to try their 30-day aged T-bone paired with some pan-seared scallops. I think that the prices are reasonable. My husband, on the other hand, who’s not really into steaks would love the Miller’s Dirty Burger. 🙂

Miller and Carter sounds like a great restaurant to visit if you are a meat eater but as you said the vegan/veggie options are limited. That is not surprising since its a steak house. Your meal looks great, so glad that you enjoyed it.

We have a Miller and Carter here in my city. I love their steak. The peppercorn sauce is even more delicious.

The two-floor setup at this restaurant offers a unique dining experience, but it seems the buzz of conversation can make it quite lively. The diverse menu with options beyond steak is a pleasant surprise, catering to a range of tastes. The sides and dressing choices sound like a great way to customize your meal. And of course, ending on a sweet note with one of their desserts is the perfect way to wrap up your dining experience!

It is ridiculous how a burger can cost up to £15+ sometimes with no chips with it and chips itself can cost up to £3.95 alone and more if they sprinkle a bit of parmesan on it. We should start a petition on this, haha

I recently went to. Miller and Carter in Aylesbury for lunch with some friends. The steak was absolutely delicious and the service was great too!
