Sometimes you have days where you feel hungry, need something tasty, comforting and warm to enjoy but want to do it with minimal effort. Well, this is one of those cheat recipes. In fact, it takes approximately 5 minutes at the most to make this!!! My Simple Chicken Gyoza and Miso Soup packs a spicy punch (or not depending on your taste), boosts your fluid intake, is full of flavour and importantly is healthy too. As long as you have all the necessary ingredients you will be able to whip this up whenever you fancy. The beauty of this recipe is you can adjust it to your taste, add veg, more heat, whatever you fancy.
Simple Chicken Gyoza and Miso Soup
Ingredients
(serves 1)
2 20g sachets of chilli miso / plain miso soup
6 frozen chicken gyoza, use vegetarian/vegan options if you prefer
Method
Heat 400ml of water. The miso I used said to heat the water but not bring it to the boil. Empty the contents of the miso soup sachets into a large microwavable bowl. Add the water and stir well. Add the gyoza, place this in a microwave and cover with a microwave plate cover. Heat for 3 minutes – 1000W microwave.
Serve – careful it’ll be hot! Enjoy x
Health Benefits
Miso is very healthy and provides various benefits to those that eat it often. It has protein, vitamins B12, B2, E and K, linoleic acid and dietry fiber. The soup can help with digestion and also reduce the risk of breast cancer. It does not increase blood pressure as some thought. This is thought to be due to the ingredients in the soup. It can be used to support weight loss as it leaves you feeling fuller for longer.
The chilli in the miso is rich in vitamin C which is an antioxidant. The heat chillis produce in the body is linked with weight loss, reducing the risk of diabetes 2, supporting the immune system, reducing the risk of some cancers, heart disease and more.
The chicken gyoza help make the soup that bit more filling. They are not fried but steamed in the soup so much healthier. They also contain greens adding to the health factor. If you want to make this dish even healthier use vegetable gyoza instead.

I’d never heard of chicken gyoza and I am not sure they sell them here. I’ll have to search online to see if they are easy to make.
You’ll find them in the frozen section. They are quite popular so they probably do have them, you may just have not seen them x
This looks like a delicious soup. I will have to try this. I love making soup when it’s cold out.
Me too and this one is super easy.
I love gyoza and miso soup – thanks for the reminder. I’ll be getting some ingredients and making some at the weekend.

You can fry them but this way is so easy it is fool proof.
This soup looks so good and tasty. I will try this at home. Thank you!
It is full of flavour and easy to add extra items to.
Being part Japanese, I grew up on my aunt’s miso. I love the addition of the gyozas too!
I’m glad you like the sound of this. The combination works well and the spice is great for the winter.
Yes, we just has this last week, although the soup was also chicken flavored. Miso goes better with fish, but might be too “fishy” 😀 Thanks for your version, I will try this combination in the following days. Yummm!
Miso can be really flexible, you can add in veg instead and have a tasty soup which is great.
Such a comforting soup for the chillier days. I love wanton soup and this looks so good!
I love that it is soooo easy to make!
I love all kinds of Japanese food, including miso soup. My husband and I met at Japanese night class many moons ago (though I’ve forgotten most of my Japanese now), so Japanese food has always been something we share a love of.
This would be perfect for you to both enjoy this winter x
This seems really easy and it looks delicious too. A good one for winter.
It sure is. It’s a great comfort food.
I love miso soup and gyozas but I have never tried a chicken gyoza yet, hope to try this soon!
Ha, I just decided one day to combine them to make a more filling dish and it worked a treat x
This is so easy to make and will be perfect to enjoy with the fall weather. I love soups that are this easy to make.
It’s amazingly fast to make. In fact, it takes as long to make it as it does to eat it.
I havent tried miso but it has been on my list for years. I had a client who swore by it – said after him and his wife started taking it their overall health really improved.
It tastes great and you can adjust the soup to make it completely different which is great. It is really healthy too so another reason to eat it more.
I’m drooling over this dish. Gyoza are good on their own, but with miso soup, this is my kind of comfort food.
I know what you mean. The good thing is you can add veg or a sprinkle of coriander to change the flavour and create a whole new dish.
Miso soup is one of our favorites. Thanks for these tips to make it better at home. My family will appreciate it!
I am sure they’d love this. Enjoy!
