Top Insurances Everyone Needs
Life Insurance
Once you get married or have children it then makes sense to consider getting a life insurance policy for yourself and your partner. This ensures that if the unthinkable occurs then the partner left behind will have the means to cover funeral expenses and put money towards outstanding debts etc. There are different types of life insurance available. Term life insurance is the most basic option available and as a result the most affordable. A cheap term life insurance is insurance that will run for a fixed period of time such as 10, 20, or thirty years. You will pay a premium during that time and if you die within that time period then your family or any other beneficiary will receive a lump sum. This is often the most popular life insurance option.
Health Insurance
The wait for treatment in the NHS has grown considerably over the years. To be seen quickly we need to consider going private but the cost of this can spiral out of control depending on what the problem is and the treatment required for this. Some employers will provide staff with a level of health insurance whether they foot the entire bill or pay part alongside the employer. When individuals don’t have this luxury, it falls to them to take out health insurance of their own. This will cover the cost of private health care, meaning you will be seen and treated much faster than those relying on the NHS. There are different policies available depending on requirements. The costs can vary depending on what you need to have covered.
Home Insurance and Contents Insurance
Once you buy and furnish a property, it makes sense to then organise home and contents insurance. This sort of insurance will cover the cost of rebuilding and repairing if your home is damaged by subsidence, a fire, a storm, a burst pipe, or a flood. The contents part of this insurance covers your home contents if they need replacing as a result of any of the aforementioned issues. Theft cover normally comes as standard with contents insurance. It is important to check that the insurance covers all of these and to what extent. Sometimes it can be worth paying a little extra to get a higher level of insurance. This will ensure a reasonable payout to cover the costs of repairs and replacing damaged items.
Fully Comprehensive Car Insurance
Although car insurance is legally required, you are only expected to cover the basics. This means that as long as you have third party fire and theft insurance then you are legally covered. But, this only covers damage to the third party, their vehicle, or property as a result of the accident. A fully comprehensive car insurance cover much more. This insurance option pays out where there is injury to another person or damage to their car. It also covers your car too. Some providers of this insurance will also include fire and theft as part of the package. Make sure you compare policies from different providers to see who offers a better package before you commit to one.

Pet Insurance
The UK is a nation of pet lovers with approximately 57% of households having a pet. We all want to keep our pets healthy but sometimes things out of our control can happen. For those with cats and dogs, it has become increasingly obvious that pet insurance is a luxury that one can not overlook. The cost of a visit to the vet can suddenly become far more costly than one might expect. In some instances, these can end up costing hundreds if not thousands of pounds. To cover yourself against any unexpected costs that you can’t afford from arising, having good pet insurance can be invaluable. There are different options to choose from including annual, pre-condition, lifetime, and accident only.
I hope you have enjoyed reading my post about Top Insurances Everyone Needs. As shown, although some insurance might not be a legal requisite, it can be in your interests to have them. I hope this has made you consider the insurance you have and if others might be of benefit to you.

Yup, I do have all of these insurances. You just never know what can happen. Our home insurance came in handy when we needed a new roof. They paid for it all.
That’s very true!!! Oh wow, I’m glad you had that insurance in place.
I have all of these insurances. I also have an insurance plan for end of life expenses, as well. You can never be too insured, I always say!
I agree, it helps to be prepared x
We have all of these. It’s just irresponsible not to. Anything can happen!
You never know when one of these might be needed.
These are definitely good to have. The only one we don’t have is pet insurance, but we have cats, and have not had any major expenses.
That’s lucky you haven’t had any issues so far.
One insurance that I haven’t really looked into is pet insurance. I really should check it out. Thanks!
It is important where you have cats or dogs especially.
I have all of the types of insurance except pet. Our home insurance has been needed for a broken pipe and also mold.
It does help to have home insurance in place in case you need it.
I never had pet insurance before but now get it through my job. it’s a huge money saver and highly recommend.
It can make such a difference if a pet becomes ill.
This is a great list of insurance products that everyone should have. I love that you included life and health insurance. I imagine those are great to have for sure.
They sure are Brandy. It is important to be covered.
Yep, adulting isn’t always fun, but these are so important! The only one we don’t have is pet insurance because that isn’t really much of a thing here. But as soon as I found out I was pregnant with my oldest (who is now 10 years old) my husband and I got life insurance.
I’m glad you got life insurance as that is so important to have!
You have prompted me to reevaluate my family’s insurance coverage and consider options that could provide greater security.
Good luck Lavanda. It’s important to find an option that suits you best.
Yes, it is so true. It is really important as an adult to have all of these and if you shop around you can often get very good deals with insurances.
Yes, that is very true. It is important to shop around for the best deals.
This is informative information. Thank you for sharing all these with us. I have health insurance for now.
It is important to have.
I can tick all of these, I am the person who always moans about insurance and the cost, but you just never know when you will need them
Tell me about it. It can be costly, but if you get caught out you’ll end up forking out so much more.
We all have different needs when looking for insurance. For me, health and life insurance are the most important. We have our policies and are happy with the terms.
Those are extremely important to have.
These are really good insurance to have on hand, things happen and it’s always good to be able to have accidents or unfortunate events covered instead of ending up stranded and with little help when caught off guard!
Pet insurance!!! I had no idea this type of insurance even existed! I will look for one right away, thank you so so much.
I have all of these insurances that are relevant, including business insurance for work. I’ve learned to be prepared.
It’s important to be prepared.
Having these insurances is so important! I have all of them except the pet insurance. Thanks for the info!
I agree with you, insurance is important. We don’t have pet insurance and I think it was our mistake. Our dog has problems with teeth and we spend over 1000 dollars a year in the animal clinic.
Oh wow, that is a lot. I think insurance in these instances may help you save a considerable amount if they will accept you with the dogs current condition.
We have all of these, and I agree everyone need to invest in some insurance. You just never know what can happen and why not be prepared.
Absolutely, being prepared is key in life! Insurance provides that much-needed peace of mind, and your blog post on the ‘Top Insurances Everyone Needs’ is a great resource. Looking forward to learning more about the essential coverage options. 👍🏡🚗
I have most of these but I’ll admit I’ve been putting off life insurance and now I need to look into it.
We have all of these insurances but discontinued pet insurance. Our pet insurance would not cover anything. We even shopped around for other types of pet insurance. Instead, we saved our money in a special savings account and used that for vet bills. There must be something different about pet insurance.
Having insurance for all these various needs is such a relief and we have seen them help us so many times over..thanks for this post reminding us of the importance and the tips
It is an important thing to consider.
Great post! You’ve highlighted essential insurance coverage succinctly. It’s informative and helpful. I appreciate your clear explanations. Maybe consider adding examples to make it even more relatable for readers. Keep up the fantastic work!
Wow, that’s amazing! It’s one of the most interesting topics I’ve ever heard about! The information you provided is beneficial. Thanks for sharing it with me.
I’m so glad you enjoyed the post. Thanks so much for visiting.
I have a car insurance and health one. But I started thinking about other types, too!
I hope you won’t need them but it’s good to have them in place.
It’s important to have and upkeep insurances but the plans are limited due to the high costs. I think an open and competitive market would help these rising costs and allow for more options, but no matter what, health should take top priority. Thanks for sharing and breaking down each category!
It is important to have insurances. Some companies are more competitive than others so it helps to shop around.
Yes these are all so important! I feel much better that my dog and cat have pet insurance and the first thing I did when having kids was get life insurance
Laura x
I’m so glad to hear that. The good thing is that all are covered just in case.
I have car and house insurance but really need to sort out some life and health insurance. Thanks for sharing this.
It is important to have these.
We don’t have health insurance but it is something I’d like to do in the future as I don’t know if i’d be able to cope with the long wait times on the NHS. I need to look into doing it through work x
We have life, health, car, and home insurance. I can’t think of any others, but if they’re out there, we’ll probably get those, too. It’s just too important not to.
I have a love-hate relationship with insurance. I do know that I don’t want to end up in a position where I don’t have it when I need it. Great post!
Pet insurance is a real life saver and something everyone with pets really need! I live in England, so we do not need health insurance, but I cannot imagine not having it.
I sure is, it can literally save you thousands of pounds.
I can say that insurance in every aspect of individual is important and beneficial
It can be quite often.
These are so true, they are all important to have just in case , you never know
Insurance is really imperative to have – I heard about a man the other day that didnt have insurance and his house burnt down and he is now homeless in his 70’s how sad is that
Hihi….I don’t have any of those you’ve listed here. I look forward to the national health insurance scheme, that should be introduced soon!
I need to sort out Health Insurance, very helpful article
You never know what can happen when. It’s scary to think about but having insurance at least gives a little bit of security if the worst does happen.
I dont have a pet atm but if i did i would certainly consider pet insurance
Almost glad i don’t have a car or pet. All these insurances must be costly but so vital to have. Sadly it is impossible for me to get life insurance due to my mental health 🙁
I do wish I had taken out health insurance when I was younger! I am currently at week 69 of a very long waiting list for a back operation!
I always try to make sure I have insurance in place to cover all eventualities!
It’s so important to have insurance. We have life and health insurance right now. I didn’t know you have pet insurance as well. Can suggest this to my formers who has pets.
I have life insurance plus now 😉
I’ve not got car insurance as I don’t drive now. I have house insurance ofcourse.
I also, to be gloomy some would say, have a monthly plan for my funeral.
I don’t want my adult youngsters having to pay a lump sum up front before the funeral can go ahead which is now box standard as we found out with mom in 2010.
Too many people have not paid the bills and left debt unpaid.
Plus it saves a rake of additional trauma. My husband passed away unexpectedly 5 years ago. We had taken those plans out after mom passed.
It made life a little easier not having to worry about costs
Gloomy buy practical and necessary
I don’t have any life insurance need to get some
Looking into life insurance is always on my to do list. I always find it more complicated because I have bipolar and mental health issues
It might help if you speak with a few different insurance places and see what each offers with that in mind before deciding.
The financial company I work for can source an appropriate insurance product for you. Let me know if you need any advice.
These are so smart! We have life, health, and car, but we should totally get pet insurance. We have FIVE cats, and when they go to the vet, it really gets pricey!
I really need to start taking out insurances, I am terrible for not doing this. You never know what can happen!
Insurance is such wonderful peace of mind too!
Thank you so much for such a useful article.
So many but all important to have definitely worth searching for good deals .
We are covered by insurance on the usual things, house, house contents, car, and gas appliances. I think we have most things sorted. You have to check on renewal as this is the time to look at other companies
Pet insurance and home and contents insurance. Would be rather anxious if I didn’t.
They are important!!
I have car and home/contents. My work place gives life and health as part of the benefits.
you cannot put a price on peace of mind
I was brought up to make sure I had insurance against any eventuality and have been more than thankful on several occasions. To me it’s a priority.
Generally well insured – including the pets – but I must confess that I’ve never thought about life insurance.
I don’t have any at the moment it’s quite daunting but I am looking to get a house with my partner so definitely need to start looking at these things
Life insurance is on my to do list but I never seem
to get round to it
Insurance is so important and should never be skimped on. My mother and father in law had a car accident abroad and she had to have a complicated op and then they were flown home privately. I hate to think what that would have cost without insurance.
Good article. I work for a Financial Adviser firm who can source the most cost efficient life cover for you dependent on your needs. It is so important not only to have life cover, but income protection too.
I think sometimes Insurance expecially house contents might be the first to go when money gets tight but you have to think of the unforseen circumstances that could crop up & would cost you a lot more than the actual insurance in the first place.
Being an adult is quite boring sometimes! But agree that insurances are important! Our cat got hit by a car last year and needed multiple surgeries. Luckily we have really good insurance that covered it, and shes now fully mended 🙂
great post if you shop around you can often get very good deals with insurances.
Have most though not all of these. I don’t have life insurance – but I’m single with no dependents. soI don’t feel there’s any need.
When I had my dog he was poorly from a young age & needed a lot of medicine for life, my pet insurance was more than the medicines & I just couldnt afford it anymore, that took 3/4 of my wages! Pets are expensive! However so worth it!
All important to have, looking at pet insurance for my dog at the moment.
I don’t have all of these, but I was vey glad to have home insurance when we had a flood.
Thank you for this informative post, I appreciate it!
I’m glad you liked the post Zara.
I don’t have any insurance at all! I’m getting my car in February so I’ll have to get car insurance.
I really should sort out life insurance
We have to have all of these insurances apart from the pet one!
It does help to have the essentials.
We have insurance in place for all the things that are important to us. I think its very important to check what you are covered for and not just opt for the cheapest quote as many people seem to do.
I agree, the cheapest isn’t always a good idea!
I never understand why people don’t get insurance, home and pet insurance is so important
I know, although I suppose many assume it’s an expense they can’t afford. It’s important to look at the bigger picture.
It’s so important to ensure you insure!
It sure is Russ!
I really need to sort my Life Insurance
It really is important to have. Hope you can find a great deal.
