Things to Consider When Buying Online

The world we live in has changed and all of a sudden buying online isn’t as complicated as it used to be. Instead of going out to a shopping mall or physical shops to buy what you need, people have adopted a new way of getting what they want – online shopping. Not only has it become the new normal in today’s way of life, but companies have adapted to this new trend as well – simplifying their online shops even more to attract customers and boost their sales. This post looks at things to consider when purchasing items on online platforms.

Price Check

This is definitely an important step when buying anything online. Different sites often have different prices for the same product based on the profit they added to the price. Hence, you want to be sure you’re not being ripped off by anyone overcharging. When buying a product, visit at least two other reliable sites you know of and check the product prices to see the difference. By doing this, you’ll be assured of a product that’s being sold at a reasonable price.

In addition, some websites will offer discount codes for a range of online retailers. It makes sense to take a look before you finalise your payment.  Who knows you could be able to save a lump sum or a decent percentage from the overall price.

Product Reviews

An unbiased opinion is precisely what you need when thinking about buying a product. Product reviews are a great way of getting feedback from actual customers who purchased the item and what they thought about the quality of the item and their overall experience. These reviews are honest, sometimes even brutal, but it’s better to know the ugly truth before you spend any money. You can even compare reviews about similar products to establish which one would suit you best.

Shipping Costs

The additional costs when ordering an item online can sometimes be a bit of a shock when everything is tallied up. Shipping costs refer to the prices added up by the supplier to get your product delivered to your doorstep. Some online shops have ridiculous shipping costs, sometimes these can total more than the cost of the product you are purchasing. Many platforms offer very reasonable shipping tariffs, some even offering free shipping if your order exceeds a certain amount. Just be sure to check your total before checking out, seeing as shipping costs are sometimes you might not even realise they’ve been added.

Delivery Time

The amount of time an order takes to reach your front door depends on the online shop you’re using. Some platforms can take up to 30 business days, while others deliver within the week. Some companies offer various delivery options at differing costs – such as express delivery, where you will have your order delivered within a day or two, just have a look at the additional fees as well.  It can be more cost effective to opt for standard delivery which in some cases is free.

Buying online is a strangely liberating feeling, being able to get your hands on everything from the comfort of your own home. It can sometimes become addictive so watch your spending.  Online shopping can also have a positive effect on our mental health. But, one thing is for sure, online shopping makes life much easier and is a great time saver.

Do you buy online often?

This is very interesting. Hubby and I have been in shielding lockdown since March. We have had to change the way we buy everything. From the odd thin online to buying everything

So many more buying online definitely which makes you wonder how the high street will be affected post lockdown.

    1. admin

That’s very true although there are many that prefer to browse and seek bargains that wouldn’t always be shown online.

Shopping is good but saving is more important. I didn’t know so many things we could do to save. Great list for me to consider while I shop.

I always check the reviews, and try to make sure I read a mix of 1 to 5 stars. The biggest issue I have is things not being the size I expected 😂

I have always bought online but when the local shops open again I will definitely be trying to buy from them more to try and keep them afloat after all this.

Due to shielding I was brought everything online, it gave me such peace of mind. I would say it’s always a good idea to have a quick look at their returns guide before purchasing especially if it’s clothing and your unsure of sizing. Some places will collect from your door, which again was ideal for people like me shielding. I am a lover of Amazon Prime, although it’s very addictive to have everything at the click of a button and come so quickly.

Online Shopping has it’s pros and cons.

I would expect as Regulations ease off gradually :- That we will need to readjust again. Hopefully there will be Communities that are Healthy, Positive, Sustainable, etc for those individuals living, working and visiting the area / locality.

Our Elderly deserve to be Cared for, Supported and Treated with Kindness. Shopping deliveries, etc. Youngsters need the chance of a variety of Opportunities, including Work Experience, Paid Employment, Housing / Homes. Exercise, Leisure, Learning and Recreational Opportunities / Activities need to be available for EveryOne.

Health, Wellbeing, Economic wellbeing and growth will hopefully be part of our Future.

Having to buy online at the moment with lockdown . I like eBay and Amazon are very quick . Most of the best shops where I live have closed down so I’d have to travel quite away so not too bothered though I do miss a good rummage round the shops

And make sure it is a legitimate site! Once a year I get scammed and have to fight a bad charge because someone overseas is running the online website, not the retailer I thought I was buying from!
