Collaborative Post. When thinking about setting up a business you need to consider more than just the start-up. There are so many different things that need to be considered when it comes to setting up a new business. Many don’t think past the starting stage. But, by doing this they are setting themselves up for failure later on down the line. In this article, we’re going to be taking a look at some of the things that should be considered early on so that new business owners can remain consistent throughout their business.

There is More to a Business Than Just The Start-Up
Cultivate Relationships With Customers
One of the things that they will need to do is work on cultivating strong relationships with customers. The more work put into this, the more of a reward they will see in the long run. Customers need to feel appreciated by your business and know that they’re valued members of the company as a whole. To do this, you could look into things like having printed merchandise with the company logo or details.
When you have a business with customers that will be taking on a large amount of business, you might then want to consider looking at corporate Christmas gifts 2022. This can make the client feel appreciated when sent a thoughtful gift. As long as you are providing a good service and are well priced it can help strengthen the relationship and also stop them from looking elsewhere at competitors.
As well as this, make sure that you are checking in on them from time to time. Do this by phone or email, just to ensure that they are happy with what they are receiving from your business.
Employee Retention
Having good staff is naturally very important. Therefore it makes sense when running a business that you keep your employees happy and feeling valued. Finding the right employees can be tricky. It’s not always as easy as one might hope to find just the right individuals.
It helps to put a lot of thought into the wages you will be offering. With the cost of living, this needs to fit both with the prospective employees as well as what the business can afford. Aim for the higher margin for each of the jobs available. That way you can ensure you attract the best candidates and also reduce the risk of high staff turnover. High staff turnover can cost you more in the long run as you’ll then need to factor in the cost of advertising again, the time required for interviews, and also the time needed for training. This not only costs but also means you will be 2 staff members down, the first is the one you are looking to hire and the second that is looking to find a suitable candidate and train them.

Identify and Implement Improvements
When a business grows you’ll need to adapt. You will find more efficient ways for processes to be done and incorporate them into practise. It also helps to identify areas that don’t work well and make improvements etc. For example, if you have set up your website yourself, in time the business may outgrow this. You may consider redoing this entirely or adding to the site to give the clients a better and easier experience to maximise the number of visitors to the site. It helps to make the site look professional and add essentials to the site that allow for a good customer experience.
As you can see, There is More to a Business Than Just The Start-Up. What considerations do you think business owners need to allow for early on?

I would love a little cottage industry – so thanks for the advice
In my experience, employee retention is a big one. If you can’t keep employees, you can’t keep the doors open.
It certainly is. It can make a big difference to a business.
I don’t know much about starting a business, but I can see how this is all true. I know I respect businesses more when I have a relationship with them.
Employee retention is one thing, and another thing is about attracting great talents into the company. I believe this could be more challenging for a new startup where the capital is limited.
I think some people think they can start a business and it will just take off. They don’t realise all the little extras you have to put in to make it successful.
That’s very true, there is a lot to think about before you even start a business.
I agree it’s so important to implement improvements once your business has been around for a while. It’s important to stay up-to-date!
So many people just think they can have a dream and go for it. Starting a new business is so much more than that.
That’s true, it takes time, research and a lot of energy.
There are so many working pieces to make sure that your business runs successfully. I like being solo with the ability to outsource some projects. Being in charge of everything makes it easier for me to measure stats and growth.
It’s so important for us to ensure we look after our customers well – that will definitely keep them coming back!
Employee retention is so important as it costs so much when people leave and you have to employ someone new and train them etc x
It sure is an important part of any business. The costs to some that haven’t cottoned on are horrendous having seen this first hand.
Great post! I worked for a start up as my first full time job ever and every single one of the points that you mentioned above can be crucial in the beginning, it’s like a first impression and foundation of how the business will continue going forward especially with customers.
A lot goes into owning your own business. I agree you have to have the right employees that truly enjoy what they are doing and are comfortable with their pay. If the employee is not happy, you may see their customer service decline.
These are good points to consider, sometimes people really do think all you have to do is start one up and stuff like marketing and engagement isn’t followed up on and that can harm your business as well!
That’s very true. You need to allow for all aspects.
I agree, with this article to have a business is very easy but the starting point is the hardest part and we need all the necessary guidance and plan everything to make a smooth business transition!
I do think keeping employees happy and feeling valued is extremely important! That will bring much success to a business for sure.
I completely agree. It’s the best way to keep staff for longer.
This is a really great post! I absolutely agree with this, these are all really great points!
Thanks Richelle. I’m glad you liked the post.
You are right! For a successful business we need customs, so cultivating strong relationships with customers is always a priority!
Some people just care about the startups only while starting a business which is not correct at all. Thanks for sharing awareness regarding it
That’s true, we need to see the bigger picture and see further.
Finding the right employees can be tricky, for sure. It’s like a hit or miss. My Dad had a business so I know.
I have been experimenting with employees for my business for the first time, and I am pretty excited about it. There are so many other things I can focus on now, that I can delegate the work load.
Couldn’t agree more with the employee retention point! When my maternal uncle started his new business, his close trained employees left him within just 6 months! He had to invest in a lot of money plus effort that time to hire others 🙁 I still remember his struggles!
So much goes into running a business for sure. There is really a lot involved and it takes so much work.
It sure does. We need to make sure we research and do everything we can to make it a success.
Thinking about your customers and how you can help them while also building those relationships is so important! Without customers you don’t have a business!
That’s very true. We all need to treat our customers well.
If that isn’t the truth! Everyone thinks about the initial beginning of a business, but they often never give any consideration to how much work it is on a daily basis.
This is very true. New business owners forget that it takes a while for a start-up to take off. Thanks for sharing!
