2020 is has been a disastrous year for celebrations. So many birthdays etc are being postponed until further notice or cancelled entirely. But, we can still acknowledge the birthdays of people in other households from the safety of our own homes. Obviously, we can’t give the gift of time in the classic ways but, we can let parents, mothers, daughters, brothers know you are thinking of them with these great gift ideas.
Although physically going to a shop to buy a gift isn’t possible there are plenty of items you can buy online. Look for small local businesses where you can. It can make a big difference to them, their staff and help keep them surviving through these difficult times.

This simple gesture is sure to make somebody you care about smile.

There’s no shortage of personalised gift places online. You can get somebody’s name on almost anything now. Take a look at the extensive catalogue of things available online from glasses with the coordinates of where you met sent to a distant significant other, to personalised photo phone cases to remind people about those who matter most to them. Personalisation is a sure way of making sure they receive a truly unique gift.
Sweet Treats
If you know someone with a sweet tooth then a bespoke sweet treat hamper could be their ideal gift. Chocolate, candy, retro candy, American candy, you name it. My kids are still talking about their trip to Paradise Wildlife Park. I have to say us adults thought it was pretty fab too!

Nobody’s going to turn down the opportunity to get to watch their favourite shows for free. Why not pay for a streaming service subscription albeit a bit different, it’s a gift that loved ones will really appreciate during lockdown. Not everyone has Netflix and Disney Plus (that includes me, not that I’m hinting). You could also consider looking into some of the other services that are available such as Rakuten.tv, or Roku so they can discover some new shows to ease the boredom.

Our family birthday season is just starting and I have been reduced to buying a couple of cards from the local hardware shop! I will either add money or use one of your suggestions.
I’m sure many will appreciate a streaming gift service with the indefinite lockdown period.
These are some lovely ideas – I always struggle with what to give as gifts. I do love anything personalised or handmade myself though.
Its been a tough year and such a shame for many of those that cant celebrate there birthdays etc, however some excellent tips and along as you still try to make the effort I’m sure they would appreciate any of these.

I haven’t been able to find any flowers online when I wanted to send them to my Father In Law, birthday celebrations are much more subdued at the moment.
