(Collaborative post) This post looks at How to Create The Ultimate Gaming Space. If you have a gamer in your home, you’ll know what a big deal it can be. Interestingly, the gaming industry is now worth more worldwide than the film industry. There have YouTubers making millions just from producing game walkthroughs. My children watch them quite often.
Creating a dedicated space for the game at home is a dream come true for most gamers. It’s something that we really need to work on in our house as our setup isn’t the best.
Here are some ideas to set up yours.
Create The Ultimate Gaming Space
Lighting
Screen glare can be an issue in our home whether we’re watching tv or playing games. The solution is to have good blackout blinds or curtains over any windows. If you want to create an amazing atmosphere, you could even use a 12v LED lights strip to bring some colour to the space.
Seating
Long gaming sessions can lead to some serious aches and pains, so you need some comfy seating. Think about investing in a specialist gaming chair, which will keep you supported and is designed to make sure you can move your arms freely to play. At the moment we’re using our dining room chairs but they’re not as comfy as a proper gaming chair.
Screen
Bigger is often better when considering screen size, as long as the picture quality is good. The size and type of screen you go for should be based on the size of the room. For example, there’s no point putting a huge projector screen up in a room that’s really small. It will be impossible to get your chair far enough away to see the screen properly. Also, you aren’t likely to get the level of picture detail that some people prefer.
Sound
When it comes to gaming, sound is almost as important as graphics. It can help to completely transport you away and into the game. A cheap set of headphones or speakers won’t do.
If you’re using headphones, think about how long you’re going to be gaming for. A wireless pair will give you the ultimate freedom of movement but might run out of charge when you least want them to. Go for a pair that have good bass and sound cancellation functions.
However, if you have the luxury of not having to keep the noise down, then a great speaker set-up is always an option. A full surround sound system will give you a greater sense of immersion in the game. Choose your speaker system once you have the rest of the room and seating already planned out. That way you are able to get the right size and put them in the optimum position for your gaming.
Air Quality
Being in the same room for hours at a time isn’t the best when it comes to air quality. Having a good supply of fresh air is important to keep you alert. So, take regular breaks and go outside, keep a window open or place a fan in the room to circulate the air.
If you’re using a fan or air conditioning, it can dry out the air which isn’t great for your throat or eyes, so put a humidifier in there too and have plenty of fluids to hand.

Some really useful hints and tips here – it can be quite difficult especially in daylight to do this with a film so never mind how hard it must be for a gaming space.
That’s true. Having a well spaced out and thought out room is important for both.
We’re going to be working on a man cave space for Luke soon and gaming is going to be a huge use for it. For us we want to keep it quite spacious and have loads of space around for when he uses the VR headset so nothing can be knocked or damaged x
That’s a great idea. Sounds like you’ve planned it all out well.
Love these ideas! Both my partner and son are gamers and my daughter is getting into gaming too so we are definitely looking to create the ultimate gaming space for them.
It can be a great way to relax and distract from other things x
Oh man! Passing this along to all of gamer friends! Thanks for the suggestions!
Thanks Briana. There are so many gamers these days x
These are great ideas, and yes, you need to consider the size of your room when creating your game room.
That can really help as some games require extra space.
These are some great tips for setting up a gaming room. We play online with my oldest daughter who lives far away, so a comfortable headset is super important!
That is very important especially if you play for a long period of time.
These are some great ideas. I have some gamers in the house, so this would be great. I wish I had more space to make a really nice area for them.
I know what you mean. If you’ve got a spare room that would be perfect.

They do really add, don’t they. My kids have one in their bedroom lol.
All these tips are exactly on point. But you missed out on refreshment 😀
Ha, for a second there I questioned myself. It’s under air quality – keeping fluids up.

I think most gamers would love one x
Refreshments! LOL, I have to have food to munch. Other than that, bravo!
Yes, refreshments are a must lol x

My son was a huge gamers for years, and it’s crazy how addicted and focused he’d get. Having a nice and safe and clean space to dig in for a mission is key. Thanks for your advise.
I would love a gaming space as mine play in the living room. Noise cancelling area would be perfect as even the sound of the control pad clicking can become irritating for those not playing.
I know what you mean. I’d love it if we had a spare room to use for gaming.
We organize more and more gaming nights! To have the right space for it is so important!
It really makes a big difference.
My son is a pro gamer and these are definitely great tips. He has a humidifier and air purifier in his room. They are must haves, for sure.

Great tips! My boys usually do their gaming either in the living room or at the kitchen table. I think they would love to have a dedicated gaming space.
My eldest is just starting to get into video games. At the moment he plays in our front room. It is not ideal for any of us! I would like to be able to create him a dedicated space. Thanks for the tips.
I’m not sure dedicating a room to gaming can be justified for most families in the UK although my son has taken over my very small study for just that. In the states where land prices are much cheaper for the most part and houses tend to be much larger and there often is already a space then perhaps it is justified.
Getting a game room right is very individual to who is using it – very few will have the space and finance to get it pefect.
It all depends on who it’s for and what is required. For those that are creative and resourceful enough, the cost won’t be too high.
We don’t have a gaming space, just have to use the living room but if I was making one I would have it decorated in Mario colours!
Ha, I’m sure it would look great x
What great ideas. I would love a gaming space that all the family could use but it all comes down to space.
Space is often an issue more many but can be worked around!
