A chocoholics heaven!
My youngest and I were in our element when we arrived at La Maison du Chocolat in Piccadilly for the press day.
As you approach the entrance you can’t help but be mesmerised by the beautiful Cakes that adorn the window and entice you into the store to discover more chocolaty perfection.
On your right as you enter you see a lovely long glass display section full of tempting little bite size pieces of some of the best chocolate you could ever have the pleasure to eat.
We had come to view and most importantly taste the new collection 2013: New Duo de Ganache, Valentine’s and Easter Selections.
As Valentines Day is almost upon us I will begin by telling you about the delicious selection boxes available. Available in 4 sizes these are definitely worth considering and are sure to make your loved one smile. As the sizes get larger the selection of chocolate flavours also increases.
Simple yet beautiful packaging contains some of the worlds best quality chocolate.
We sampled the Litchi acidulated:
I would jump at the chance to be a chocolate taster for this company, and you can see why they are one of the leading Chocolatiers with their creative and expertly crafted chocolates which leads me nicely on to the Easter Selection. With the intention of delighting us with something new and creative La Maison du Chocolat have created both an individual sheep or a whole scene with a ram, ewes and lambs which takes one of their chocolatiers a whole day to assemble with all the intricate detail.
The mothers day selection:
The chocolates look lovely in the selection box and available to try was the Flowers of Raspberry. Another new flavour that I had never even considered in chocolate form but found it was absolutely delicious. The contrast in textures alone was fantastic with the crunch of the outer coating after which your teeth are greeted by a thick, smooth delicately flavoured and not overly sweet ganache. As a mother myself I would be delighted to receive a box of these.
Duo De Ganache available from the 15th April 2013 in boutiques and online has two different flavour ganaches.
Both have Lemon flavour ganache but from two different types of Lemon.
Andalousie: a dark ganache with Menton lemon cream and an infusion of lemon zest.
Yuzu: a dark ganache with the juice of the wild Yuzu Mishoyuzu from Japan.
The Isle of Beauty:
This has an assortment of five different flavoured chocolates ranging from Nepita which is a type of mint, Clementine, Citronnette, Maquis d’ete – Fig & honey and Ampamakia – zesty citrus notes within a smooth, thick, decadent ganache. This selection is available from the 3rd May 2013 in boutique and online. I was fortunate to be able to try the Nepita which was a ganache infused with a fresh mint flavour that isn’t overpowering to the palate.
La Maison du Chocolat has not failed to impress with its new and creative approach to the new years chocolate selections, with a level of excellence that all chocolatiers aspire to I could find no area that they were lacking. I look forward to seeing what new and exciting selections they have on offer to tantalise our taste buds with at Christmas.
For those that need a chocolate fix after reading this post and I am sure many of you will, take a look at the La Maison du Chocolat website.
