My little man who many of you know as Mr Squishy is growing up soooo quickly. Too quickly for my liking but nevertheless it’s happening. It dawned on me that it will soon be time for him to move out of our room and into his own. I thought that it might be nice to have a room decorated to a theme rather than a simple plain room. At this stage I haven’t a clue what to do but as many of you have children I thought it would be great to share my ideas with you. This post will focus on one of the possibilities using affordable items to create a bedroom that looks wonderful but is also within a reasonable budget.
Todays theme is Pirates so take a look me hearties at these great ideas that will transform a basic painted and floored room into one that any Pirate Cap’n would be proud of.
One of the most important items is the bed. I had a great time searching through the various sites but really loved this one from Noa and Nani. It ranges from £149.99 to £245 depending on the additions you have included.
Pirate Pete Cabin Bed Midsleeper
I love the colourful design and that they have various options available to suit different pockets. Options include having a slide, tent, tower & tunnel. You can even choose to include the mattress if you don’t already have a suitable one. There is also a black and white skull and cross bones design available if you prefer.
This personalised Door Sticker from itsyourstory is a great idea for £15.00 especially as you get to have your own pirate feature on it, how cool is that!!!!!
I love the design of this Night Light from what2buyforkids, perfect for little pirates to see their way whist sailing on the seven seas on dark cloudy nights. £36.99.
This large Wooden Unpainted Pirates Chest is perfect for storage as you will find no matter how much storage you have it is NEVER enough when you have children. The large was £39.99 from Amazon and you can pop a large pirate themed sticker on the front that can be removed at a later date should you chose to do so.
Every pirate needs somewhere to store all their book and maps and this bookcase from Argos does the job perfectly. £65.99
Other options include; Pirate Porthole Wall Stickers
There are so many great options available but those mentioned above were my favourites. Just a reminder for those wanting to use wall stickers even if you find ones that come off easily there is a risk of staining the walls from the adhesive and also if the room gets a lot of light in there may be a contrast in colour between the parts walls where the stickers were when removed (just something to consider). The last 4 items can be found over on the Children’s Rooms website.
I would opt for blue curtains to go with the theme of the room plus it reduces the number of items that will need updating in a few years when my little one gets older.
I hope you liked my ideas. Which are your favourite? Have you come across any great ideas for a pirate themed room?
