I remember watching My Little Pony as a child with my friends, we would all sit down and munch on snacks whilst we watched.  Since then I have introduced both my daughters to the lovable ponies. My Little Pony has now been around for 30 years, oh dear now I am showing my age, but is still very popular with children and adults, me included.  The DVD “My Little Pony FriendsShip is Magic” arrived on my doorstep one day and of course I was super excited. 

Being the big kid that I am I naturally arranged a pyjama party for my daughters and a few friends.

Popcorn and Applejack’s homemade apple cupcakes at the ready we were ready to watch the movie.  My Little Pony Friendship is Magic follows a special little pony called Twilight Sparkle who has magical abilities and is on a mission set by Princess Celestia of Equestria to learn “The true meaning of Friendship”.  Accompanied by Spike, a little purple dragon, Twilight Sparkle sets off to Ponyville to oversee preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration.  As she works through the different areas of the celebrations that need addressing Twilight Sparkle makes friends with 5 very sweet ponies: Pinky Pie, Rarity, Fluttershy, Rainbow Dash and Applejack.  Together they go on many magical and fun filled adventures and discover the most powerful magic of all, the Magic of Friendship.

 The new My Little Pony is a more modern version of the old children’s favourite and shows the development of friendships between the main characters and in each episode there is a lesson to be learnt.  Full of fun, colour, well thought out characters and humour it is a must watch especially for little girls.

Any idea which is which?

Nightmare moon, don’t worry it’s not too scary and there is a happy ending, but I won’t give anything away.

The children all enjoyed watching the different episodes, yes even the boys!  An all were given their own My Little Pony name, mine was Emerald Dancer.
