Have you seen the new Angry Birds movie yet? We have and we all loved it. The latest brings back all our favourite characters from the first film and some fun new ones too. Now we can have our own Angry Birds fun at home with the NEW Angry Birds Island Challenge Slot Car Set. The look on little man’s face when he discovered we had been sent one was priceless.
The Aim of the Game
Players start your engines and prepare for the race of your life. Red and King Mudbeard go head to head in this fast-action super fun racing game. Race around the Island, through Eagle Mountain cave to see who’ll win, but watch out for those bends. Can you work out how to control your car so you don’t fly off the track?
What’s in the Box
This contains:
2 cars (1 containing Red (bird) and the other containing Leonard Mudbeard/ King Mudbeard(pig))
1 figure of eight track
2 controllers
Cardboard scenery
What Did We Think?
Little man is 5 years old and I would say the perfect starting age for this racing game. He’s had a similar toy in the past and loved it. Unfortunately, this vanished when we moved a while back so we were pleased to have another. The track was easy to set up and little man couldn’t wait to get started. After a few goes, he mastered the knack of slowing down and speeding up just at the right time and was a worthy adversary for his older sisters.
He even started working on playing by himself, a controller in each hand. Of course, this didn’t impress his sisters much. Don’t worry though. They got to play plenty themselves when little man had tired himself out and was tucked up in bed dreaming of racing around the eight-track as Red.
What Didn’t We Like
It looks great but, we found the cars had a tendency to shoot off the track. The barriers were not helpful in avoiding this which was a shame and the cars positioning on the track kept needing adjustment to enable it to connect making the game that much more frustrating to play. It needs loads of batteries (8 x AA batteries) which you should note do not come in the pack. It’s not the best game of its kind, there are better options available on the market.
What Did We Like
The track is well made, easy to put together and the cars are nice and colourful. It’s easy to put back after as it fits back nicely in its box, provided you don’t cut out the cardboard scenery. The instructions are pretty easy to follow.
What Did We Think?
Little man enjoyed playing with this especially as it had characters he recognised. It’s a great starter track for little ones and the controllers were easy to hold and use. This is one of those unisex gifts that both girls, boys and siblings will enjoy. It was just a shame they couldn’t race too fast and the cars kept needing adjusting.
