Ways to Look Youthful As We Age

(Collaborative post) Getting older is inevitable but doesn’t mean it needs to be cause for concern. Instead, we need to embrace it and consider ways that will help us stay looking youthful to ensure we feel confident in our own skin. Here we look at ways to look youthful as we age. Let’s be honest, it’s all about the choices we make and how much effort we are willing to put into taking good care of ourselves and investing in self-care activities and routines. It’s never too early to start!

Ways to Look Youthful As We Age

Exercise Daily

Exercise is an excellent way to boost mental health and will keep you looking young and feeling full of natural energy. Ensure you stay looking young and healthy as you age by exercising daily and getting your heart rate up. By participating in a variety of physical activities we can keep our bodies in shape and feel good too. Exercising in natural environments like parks can have extra health benefits. Added weight can make you look older than you are and slow you down. When you work out regularly you’ll drop extra pounds and your clothes will fit nicely. You’ll also sleep better which will be beneficial for your appearance and body and mind.

Keep up with Hair Care & Colour

The right hairstyle can also have a significant impact on your looks and confidence. When you choose the right cut or style and colour you can make yourself look more youthful and vibrant. Therefore, keep up with hair care and be sure to colour it so that you can hide any grey hair that begins to appear. Also, brands like Joico could have what you’re looking for when it comes to styling products and root concealers so you can keep hair looking fabulous easily from home.

Find Ways to Reduce Your Stress

Excessive stress will not only make you feel lousy and unmotivated but will also take a toll on your appearance. Find healthy ways to reduce your stress. For instance, you might want to do more yoga or meditating or go for walks in natural surroundings. These activities will help you slow a racing mind and allow you to clear your head and relax your mind.

Treat Yourself With a Skin

Peel Skin peels can work magic on tired skin, revealing fresher, brighter skin. Using naturally occurring fruit acids and enzymes, skin peel treatments exfoliate skin and stimulate new cell growth, while promoting collagen production. You’d be wowed at the results you can achieve and the years it can shave off your look. What’s more, indulging in a treatment allows you some precious me-time to relax and unwind. All too often we forget to spend time and energy on ourselves – but never forget you’re worth it. I’ve been considering trying the revolutionary Green Peel skin peel treatment. I hear it has amazing results.

Have A Skincare Routine

Your skin is what people first see when meeting and interacting with you. You want it to be healthy and glowing so you can make a good first impression and feel confident conversing with others and being out in public. Maintain clear and attractive skin by having a skincare routine that you do regularly. It’s important to wash your face before going to bed, use skincare products that help you keep it looking flawless, and that you wear a high sun protection daily. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and as a way to nourish and revive your skin. Having a regular skincare routine will also help you avoid lines and spots on your face and body as you age.

Sleep, Fluid Intake & Food

All of the above will affect our internal appearance and health. The more we sleep the better our body is equipped to heal and make sure we look and feel good. The fluids we have can also have a positive or negative effect. Drinks high in sugar have a negative impact on the body causing cell damage, dehydration etc where as drinking water will help keep skin hydrated, blood consistency at its optimum, the body functioning as well as it can etc. The fuel/food we consume again can be beneficial when we eat healthily. A diet rich in a range of colourful fruit and vegetables will have all manner of health benefits whereas a carb heavy diet will leave you feeling sluggish and your body struggling to work efficiently – in time this will be apparent externally.

There are all sorts of different ways to look youthful as we age, do you actively do any yourself?

I walk every day, and I’m trying to workout 2-3 times a week. Definitely drinking a lot of water and moisturizing! So much great advice here.

The only one of these I don’t worry about now is hair color. I’ve never colored my hair and don’t plan to start unless I have to. I do exercise 5 days per week and have been really conscious of my skincare routine and drinking enough water.

    1. admin

Some people feel they need to colour their hair earlier than others and it can depend on hair colour too.

  3. Sarah Howe

I really try with all of these but do feel could do a little better with a skincare routine. However, I’ve said this for years and not really got any better!! 🙂

I will keep these in mind. I do try to color my hair but my grays do pop up now and again. I also use creams at night!

I regularly still get taken for at least ten years younger than I am, so I can’t say I’ve had any problems with staying youthful so far, lol. But I definitely need to work on improving my sleep, or the youthfulness won’t last much longer…

What a lovely post. Yes, it is important to age gracefully so self care must be a part of our everyday routine. Thanks for the wonderful tips.

    1. admin

Self care is very important with the stresses of modern day life.

  23. Bethan Taylor-Swaine

Controversial opinion, but I actually think grey hair looks amazing! With a good cut white or grey hair is so striking and such a cool look, I’ve actually been trying to persuade my Mum she should go for it and embrace white hair and she is far from ‘old’ looking. Totally with you on exercise and fresh air, they make us feel good and when we feel good we live well!

    1. admin

It does suit some people. It does help when we feel good to encourage us to look after ourselves even better.

You’re right, it makes more sense to age gracefully rather than pretend that it’s not happening or try other surgical methods to look younger than we are in reality.

    1. admin

Some surgical methods can work wonders.

  26. Nkem

I know hair color helps me. I’ve been going grey since high school so dyeing my hair helps a lot within keeping me looking young.

    1. admin

Hair colour can really help make us feel younger. Lightening hair to make greys look less visible also helps.

  28. Nicola

Some great tips to staying youthful. Having kids and the lack of sleep definitely aged me drastically! I try to stay hydrated, avoid alcohol and get as much sleep as I can (now the boys are sleeping through!)

    1. admin

It is hard when they’re not sleeping through the night to get enough sleep.

  29. Clarice

I agree with you that it is important to keep up with hair care and color. I have started coloring my hair to hide the grey ones. 🙂 Will check out Joico.

So many prefer to do this although some people do look great with grey hair.

  30. Nadia

I think food and exercise are most crucial! being active means helping your body to stay young. I also think that being open-minded going for new trends and tech Is what makes people appear younger

    1. admin

Yes, some procedures can also be helpful.

  32. Jupiter Hadley

I feel like people find aging to be this huge flaw, but personally I don’t mind it. With that said, it’s always very good to take care of your body.

    1. admin

Ha, me too. Funny that!!! If you try to drink at certain times each day it’ll become automatic – water not anything else x
