Plum Pie Breakfast Oats

Plum Pie Breakfast Oats

Oats are great. They such a versatile food and can be used in both sweet and savory dishes.  Many of us opt to have them for breakfast as they’re easy and fast to prepare. In fact, they can even be prepared from the night before so you can have a more relaxed start to the morning. Oats are great breakfast food and you can add all sorts of extras to create completely different breakfast delights for all the family to enjoy. My Plum Pie Breakfast Oats are one such example. They are tasty and healthy and a great way to start your day.

Why Oats?

Oats have a wide range of benefits. They are gluten free, rich in fiber and a wide range of vitamins and minerals. They also provide slow release energy. Oats help us feel fuller for longer and as a result, can be used to help us lose weight provided we watch the other foods we eat over the course of the day.

Plum Pie Breakfast Oats

This is not only a simple recipe it’s really tasty too. Honestly, I can’t eat plain oats as they are pretty boring. I need to jazz them up a bit  Well thankfully this recipe isn’t boring and I’m sure it’ll become one of your favourite breakfast gotos. My Plum Pie Breakfast Oats recipe takes minutes to make and is lovely and tasty and soothing too. It’s like a hug in a bowl.

Ingredients

27g oats

1 plum, sliced

1-2tsp maple syrup depending on how sweet you’d like it

190ml almond milk

10-20ml almond milk

3/4 of a tsp vanilla bean paste

5 pistachios freshly shelled and smashed into pieces

Method

Combine the oats with 190ml of almond milk, stir and heat. Add in maple syrup, vanilla bean paste and extra milk until you reach the desired consistency. You can add in more milk if the oats are thicker than you like. Place the plum slices on top of the oats, sprinkle over the pistachio pieces and enjoy!

Plums seem often to be the forgotten fruit but what about the air miles English grown plums have travelled compared to oranges, bananas and grapes?
