Gift Ideas for Outdoorsy Types

We all have those friends, relatives and colleagues who can be notoriously difficult to buy a gift for, and ‘outdoorsy’ types can certainly be among those.  After all, if you aren’t such a person yourself, what could you possibly purchase for them that they won’t already have?

The answer is, it turns out, quite a lot. You just need to apply some imagination, perhaps looking at slightly less obvious online stores.

To make your task of buying an outdoorsy Christmas gift for that special someone a bit more straightforward, here are a few suggestions to get you started.

Zippo Handwarmers

With the weather getting colder it makes sense to consider a gift that would help your outdoorsy friend or relative stay warm.  Known for their lighters, Zippo also make hand warmers.  These hand warmers can be great for anyone planning on venturing outside over the winter.  There are a range of colours available and you can also select from ones that stay warm for 6 hour or 12 hours.

Hiking Socks

More are more people are enjoying being outdoors and are taking up hiking as a hobby.  In order to hike, you’ll need the right kind of shoes which they’ll probably have.  They will also need hiking socks, something they’ll get through quickly and will need a fair few pairs of.  These are not like normal socks. They are designed with cushioning at both the front and heel of the foot.  Look out for socks that have temperature regulation and shock absorption.  Some will even have blister prevention and promotion of good circulation.  Sounds like I could od with these for my power walks.

Glitter Cricket Training Ball

Turning to online stores that cater more squarely to ‘outdoorsy’ people, MR Cricket Hockey is a great place to look for deals on all manner of bags, footwear and other items for that hockey or cricket enthusiast in your life.  But even those goods can be a little difficult to buy for someone.  For example, when you may not know their size. These soft and durable plastic play balls, though, could be perfect for use by any junior cricketers you know, especially as they’re available in a choice of black, pink or red, and won’t leave you much out of pocket.

A Warm, Waterproof, Windproof Coat

Warm coats to brave the elements is a must have for all outdoorsy types and make a great gift.  You’ll find a great range of options.  If they go out adventuring as it were in rainy weather you’ll need to look at waterproof options.  Coats that are windproof, breathable and made with fabrics that transfer moisture away from the body and keep the body warm are just what they’ll need.

A Hammock

Whether they’ve ventured into the wilderness or into their own garden a hammock can be something not only different but perfect to help the recipient relax.  Be sure to do your research when purchasing a hammock.  These come in various designs and sizes.  You’ll find ranges for home use and also for use when out exploring.

A Dash Cam

On their adventures, many that do go in search of places to hike will initially be going on a pretty long drive.  In order to make sure that they protect themselves in case of another driver causing an accident, a Dam Cam can be a great idea.  These record footage and can be used in case you need to make a non-fault claim. They are great at catching car registration numbers.  Wnt a good one?  Then consider purchasing a Nextbase Dash Cam.  They have amazing image quality and have a range of options that will suit most budgets.

A Go Pro

Perfect for capturing video footage of once in a lifetime activities or even amazing scenery and wildlife.  These are a very popular gift amongst those that enjoy spending time outdoors.

A Watch

A watch can be essential for those that enjoy the outdoors.  You can consider a basic watch or something a little more high tec.  Some watches are all singing and dancing.  You’ll find features such as heart rate monitors solar charging, GPS, water resistance, Barometer and Compass, and many more.  There is a watch appropriate for just about any sport.

A Quick Drying Towel

Available in a range of sizes these are compact, lightweight and some are antibacterial.  They’re ideal for carrying around in a backpack as opposed to our normal bathroom towels.

For Camping Enthusiasts

Loads of people enjoy camping these days.  As one might expect, they’ll have the most obvious items already like a tent and sleeping bag.  There are all sorts of other items that they’ll need and you’d be surprised to hear there are great gift options for foodie campers.  Items such as stoves, cookware, utensils, mugs and much more.

What do you think would make a great gift for someone that enjoys the outdoors?  Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section.
