Wagamama March 2022

Partly gifted review. My parents enjoy eating out. They’ll regularly go out for meals when they can and enjoy eating a wide range of cuisines. Their palettes are pretty developed having eaten foods whilst travelling to a number of places around the world. Somehow Wagamama has not been on their radar until now. I took my parents and a friend along to try some of the dishes at this great restaurant and it took just one bite for them to all become Wagamama coverts. Let’s take a look at some of the fabulous dishes available in March 2022.

Wagamama

Wagamama March 2022

Type of Cuisine

For those that have yet to visit Wagamama, this restaurant serves Japanese cuisine. In fact, they are well known for their delicious curries and noodle dishes. Many think of Japanese food as sushi and when most think of sushi they assume raw fish. Forget any pre assumptions, this restaurant has a wide range of foods to suit any vegan, vegetarian, or carnivore. No raw fish on the menu, they leave that to the sushi bars. The recipe creation guys at Wagamama are great at what they do. They have a number of popular dishes that you will want to go back and enjoy over and over. The menu is regularly updated so you will find additional dishes to try if you want to try something different.

Sides

bang bang cauliflower

bang bang cauliflower

Chosen by mum and OMG was I glad she had seen it on the menu! This is a pretty incredible dish. Who’d imagine a simple cauliflower being made into something that literally explodes with flavour in your mouth. This is a spicy dish there is no way around that, but it is also very flavoursome. This vegan dish is a great choice of side to share as part of a selection when eating out with others. It’s always nice to opt for a selection of dishes so you can try a range.

chilli squid

chilli squid

I’ve been known to order 2 or 3 of these when I take my kids to Wagamama. My family all love this and I knew my parents and friend would too. The squid is always tender, the batter is always well seasoned, the shichimi spice chilli isn’t overwhelming and the coriander dipping sauce is perfect to accompany this. It went down a treat, and the squid vanished quickly!

prawn kushiyaki

prawn kushiyaki

This side consists of 3 skewers each with 2 plump, tender, tasty prawns. The flavours really come through when you bite into them. The lemongrass and chilli marinade has just the right amount of kick and a beautiful light flavour. I’ll be getting a portion of these again next time I visit just for me. YUM!

Mains

miso glazed cod

miso glazed cod – updated version

This dish now comes as a soup in a large bowl. You’ll need to make sure you’ve brought your appetite as it’s pretty filling. It has a light vegetable broth base and combined with the rest of the ingredients it becomes a great comforting and warming meal. The flavours work incredibly well and you get a good size serving of cod in the dish. This now comes with ramen noodles whereas before they included black charcoal soba noodles. The veg in this dish differ from the previous version that was available last year but it still works well. Although I did miss the old dish this more than makes up for it not being on the menu. It has plenty of flavour and is ideal for any fish lover. The miso makes it a moreish dish ensuring that you’ll enjoy every mouthful from start to finish.

Raisukaree

Raisukaree

I love this dish. It’s full of flavour! The gorgeous curry sauce works exquisitely with the veg, coriander and your choice of prawns, chicken or tofu. If you like something with a mild heat that has a lovely citrusy tangy and a fabulous coconut flavour then this is the dish for you. For me, it’s a wonderfully comforting dish and one that I’m hoping will remain on the menu just like the classic chicken katsu curry has. It’s certainly one you must try as it’s sooooo good!!! I’ve had this at least 4 or 5 times now.

yaki soba

yaki soba

Noodle dishes are very popular. I’ve seen the Yaki Soba being served to large numbers of diners on numerous visits and finally decided I had to get one for myself. I was more than satisfied. The dish is tasty, has a great mix of textures and is a pretty good example of the ingenuity of the recipe creation guys. I noticed that depending on how you combine the toppings each mouthful tastes different making this an interesting dish to enjoy. If you’ve not tried it yet then look out for it. There are 2 options prawn and chicken or mushroom. As you will have noticed from the picture I chose the one with the prawns and chicken. They don’t skimp on these either which is good. It’s definitely something I’d have again.

naked katsu

naked katsu

This is something a number of people I’ve dinned with have ordered in the past. It seems to have had an upgrade with a more substantial serving being given which was just the right amount. This is a great dish and the good thing is the sauce comes on the side allowing the diner to use as much or as little as they wish. It’s a tasty and healthy meal option and a good one for those watching their calorie intake if you do minimise the amount of sauce used. It also comes with the healthier option of brown instead of white rice which we thought was great.

What Did We Think

My dad had been worried about trying the food as he assumed it was raw fish. He’d asked me along with my mum to select the dishes for him on the way to the restaurant. Once he saw the menu though he saw a number of dishes he liked the sound of and busied himself deciding what to try on this visit. My mum and friend loved the options available too. There are still a number of dishes they want to try so a repeat visit in the not too distant future is definitely on the cards for everyone. As you can see from this post, there are plenty of amazing meal options in March 2022 and there will be new dishes on their way soon.

What you tried any of the Wagamama March 2022 dishes or any other dishes they’ve had in the past? Do you enjoy trying tasty new foods?
