(Gifted) When it comes to jewellery more and more of us are considering the origins of the materials being used to make them. There has been an increasing demand for ethical and sustainable jewellery. I discovered one such company recently when looking for a gift for one of my daughters. This post looks at a company called Wolf and Gypsy and why you want to consider using them next time you are looking to buy ethically sourced jewellery.
Wolf and Gypsy
Wolf and Gypsy have some gorgeous pieces that are guaranteed to catch people’s eyes and are delightfully different. They use recycled precious metals and conflict-free gemstones in their gorgeous creations which are all delivered in eco-friendly packaging. You’ll find designs to suit all tastes from thin and dainty to chunkier options.
Tori Shay, the companies founder said she set the company up because:
“I could never find jewellery that I wanted to wear myself which was also high quality and long lasting. So I decided to create my own ‘forever’ jewellery and that’s where my brand, Wolf & Gypsy, was born; ethical and sustainable jewellery made with love.”
Materials & Design
The pieces are made from either recycled sterling silver, gold vermeil, 14ct gold. Some will also include ethically sourced, conflict-free gemstones, including moonstone, topaz, turquoise, emerald and diamonds. each stone is handpicked by Tori herself in India to fit each piece she creates.
Each piece is designed in the UK and then handcrafted and brought to life by artisans in an ethical workshop in India. There they pay great attention to detail and quality. The brand is focused on reducing harmful impacts to the environment and ensure the safety of children and the planet. They are a Member of 1% For The Planet. So each year they donate 1% of their gross sales.
Tori incorporates her love of symbolism, spirituality, culture and also travelling to distant lands into her stunning creations with each piece has a deep meaning behind it.
Styling
Jewellery is an individual thing. We all have different tastes and like different looks. For those into being “fashionable” you’ll be aware that the current trend is layering. Layering involves using more than one piece of jewellery. This is normally done with necklaces and when done right can look really pretty. You’ll find plenty of pieces that would work perfectly for this on the Wolf and Gipsy website.
What Did My Daughter Like
I find that gifting can be very hard sometimes. As my girls are getting older they are developing their own individual tastes. As a good mother, I seek to encourage this. It helps them develop their own uniqueness. In order to do so, I find that allowing them to select their own gifts can work very well. Not only does it take away the guesswork, it means they get something they are guaranteed to love.
Although we are not religious my daughter was instantly drawn to the:
Moonstone Tibetan Cross
This piece is available in both sterling silver plated with gold vermeil or a sterling silver, chain and pendant. There is also an option with a turquoise instead. The piece is 32mm x 46mm and is set with a gorgeous moonstone gemstone. There are four different chain lengths to choose from.
The moonstone Tibetan cross necklace features the Tibetan cross, known as the Tibetan magic wand. This is considered to be one of the most powerful weapons in the universe. Having the gemstone in the centre represents the underlying unity of the centre of the universe. From there it branches out into lotus flowers. These in Buddhist terms symbolise a phenomenal world.
This piece can be worn on its own or layered with other necklaces. It will certainly draw attention and looks fabulous however you style it. The cross is bulkier than either of us normally opt for in a piece of jewellery but this was certainly a great choice. It looks stunning on and really does catch attention.

This is really pretty. I prefer it on the longer chain. This is the kind of necklace I used to wear when I was a teenager. Love the name of the brand too.
We had the 18inch which looked nice although it also works well on a shorter chin depending on what you wear it with.
