Quick-Step Laminate Flooring the Popular Flooring Choice

Many of us want to create a stunning home that we enjoy living in yet in most cases price can be a limiting factor.  Luckily you can create the look you want at a fraction of the cost if you know how to.  Flooring for example wood or marble etc can be costly but there are less expensive options that will give you a great finish for much less.  An option that has been growing rapidly in popularity is Quick-Step Laminate Flooring.

What is Quick-Step Laminate Flooring?

It’s a high-quality laminate flooring with a glueless, integrated click system.  This is made up of four layers; a balancing layer, moisture resistant high-density fiber core board, a high definition design layer and a transparent, water-resistant overlay (melamine resin) on the very top.

Why is Quick-Step Laminate Flooring so Popular?

Quick-Step Laminate Flooring is a great brand according to the husband and he should know as he has refurbished numerous properties.  It’s a quality flooring product that you can purchase at an affordable price.  This leading brand is available at all good flooring stockists as it is in such high demand.

But aside from price why is this flooring so popular?

Well, the designers that create the various options are inspired by the latest trends in fashion, design and even architecture resulting in an abundance of replicated options.  So, if you want a wooden floor but can’t afford real wood this is the answer.  It gives the appearance of real wood, but, unlike real wood, it doesn’t lose its colour over time due to sun exposure.  It is also easy to fit and maintain and is hard-wearing.  You’ll often get a warranty of up to 25 years depending on the floor model.  The product is also easier to remove and replace should the need arise.  This type of flooring is more resistant to scratches than natural wood.  Many of the laminate floor collections have a HydroSeal water-repellent coating making them 100% water-resistant.  In summation, you get the perks of a wooden floor and more.

Choosing Your Flooring to Give the Impression of a Larger Sized Room

The colour of the floor can affect the feel or a room so it is important to choose wisely.  Make sure you check a sample in different lights throughout the day.  Samples will differ in appearance when compared between artificial and daylight.

Using the same flooring throughout the home can give a sense of space which is even more important if the rooms are on the smaller side.  By doing this you create a seamless look and the illusion of a more substantial space.

For smaller rooms opt for lighter colours in decoration and wood choice as these help open up the room and makes it look considerably larger.  The light reflects off the bright surfaces making them look more spacious.  A light or beige oak will work well.

Alternatively, darker colours like walnut work well in bigger rooms giving them a warmer, smaller, cosier feel as they absorb light.  Dark coloured wood effect laminate floors can also be used to trick the eye into thinking that a room is more sizable when contrasted with a cool coloured wall.  Such colours include; hues of blue, green and purple.

Using wider pieces of Quick-Step laminate flooring can give the appearance of a larger room especially if you make the planks run parallel with the longest wall in the room.

Another option is to lay the floor diagonally.  This deceives the eyes and brain into seeing the space as bigger than it actually is.

Other things to Consider

Once you have chosen which of the wide range of laminate floorings you prefer you can then look at dressing the room with other items.  Make sure you keep clutter minimal.
An area rug can give a smaller room a more sizable appearance.  Avoid anything too small a medium to large size is what you need depending on the room.  Painting the ceiling the same colour as the walls can confuse the eye into not knowing where one ends and the other begins giving a more spacious feel.
I hope you’ve found this post useful and informative.  It’s a simple overview of why Quick-Step laminate flooring is so popular with so many DIY enthusiasts and landlords alike.

Would you consider using Quick-Step laminate flooring in your home?

  66. Katie Harmer

I love the looks and varieties that these laminates come in. I live in a rented flat and I have the ‘luxury’ of having carpet in both my kitchen and bathroom so I would love to be able to put these kinds of laminate down in these rooms so I can ensure that they are clean and disinfected.

Love the way you’ve decorated – very clean and white and uncluttered! My home is all the colours of the rainbow – different for different rooms, and the clutter is taking over – but it says a lot about my personality, as does anyone’s home, and life would be boring if we all were the same!!

  123. Ian Campbell

I’ve never considered laminate flooring – it looks so shiny and such a classy finish! It’s tiling and carpets all the way in our house, we’ve never laid wooden flooring in our time living there, probably due to the fear of rot and infestation. This article has definitely changed my perception of wooden flooring though!

  135. Judith Mitchell

I’ve been wary of laminate flooring in the past – heard quite a few horror stories – but now I think it might be a good option for our hallway. It is on the north side of the house and the hallway is not very wide. Laminate might make it feel warmer and bigger while being eminently practical

  136. Helen W

I always worry about laminate flooring as i use a stick and worry about slipping on it if someone spills something and doesn’t clean up so i stick to carpets until there is a non slip version

This type of flooring suits us down to the ground. Our dogs are taken out lots of walks and when they come in with muddy wet feet {which, in Scotland, is most of the time} the floor is easy enough to clean. The lighter coloured floor is my favourite.
