(Collaborative post). We all know about the importance of cash flow management and ensuring that what comes in is more than what’s going out. That has proved something of a challenge for many over the last 18 months. As a result, some of us have had to take action to ensure the financial security of our families. In many cases, this has meant either selling our homes and downgrading where possible. Alternatively, it could mean making improvements on our homes to increase their value so that a fail-safe is in place in case it’s needed. This post looks at some of the main home improvements to increase the value of your home.
Home Improvements to Increase the Value of Your Home
Keep Walls Pristine
First impressions count, and it turns out it takes consumers around 50-Milliseconds to make a purchasing decision. Your walls are one of the first things that a potential buyer is going to see. That means keeping your walls in tip-top condition. A fresh coat of paint every so often can breathe new life into your rooms.
Build An Extra Room(s)
If there is an open space that could accommodate an extra room or entertainment space, make use of it. It’s an investment that you’ll be pleased you made but make sure that you do it properly. If there are repairs to concrete floors or slabs, make sure that you undertake those and do them correctly. Ardex A46 is an ideal product for repairing internal and external repairs. They also have products that can be used for tiling such as grouts and adhesives. These are products my husband highly recommends as he uses them regularly.
Landscaping
Whether you have palatial gardens or a small inner-city patch, you can make a big impression with clever landscaping and garden accessories placement. Make your garden something you can truly enjoy and be proud of. Simple touches like tidy borders, pretty hedges, lighting can work well. Adding in features can add to its aesthetic appeal.

Add a Feature Door
A feature door can add to the value of your home. It is something you need to make sure that you choose carefully. It also adds character to your home and gives a great first impression. Entries can be super modern, highly traditional, handcrafted, security door focused, double-door etc. Take your time finding the right door that suits your home and style.
A Statement Staircase
Your staircase can greatly influence the appearance of your hallway and is most often one of the first things people will see when they enter your home. Adding a staircase of your own choosing allows you to select one that enhances the appearance of your hallway, uses the space effectively, and can have an immediate lasting impression on a prospective buyer’s opinion of your home when you decide to sell in the future. If you look up Staircases Scotland you’ll find a wonderful range of staircases from Abbot Wade that include contemporary, classic, glass, timber, and stainless steel, alongside other styles. Many of these could fit perfectly in your home and might be just the staircase you are looking for.
Beautiful Floors
Flooring matters. If you have a beautiful floor in a room it not only adds character and value it can also create a more luxurious feel to your home. Make sure your floors are in good condition and this will help you procure a good price when you come to sell. From stylish Italian tiles to wooden floors, the choices are varied so make sure they fit well with the rest of the room.
Many of us have limited time to worry about repairing a fixer-upper. If you ensure that prospective buyers need do as little as possible and the house is in good condition with a stylish interior, you’ll sell easily and at or even above market value if you’re lucky. Once you’ve made your updates, you may find you no longer want to move.
