For the Love of Cheese

Any foodie would be thrilled to be sent a hamper full of edible treats so when one arrived for me from hamper company Serenata Flowers (they also do hampers) I was over the moon.

DSC02408DSC02414My husband and I were tasked with the super important job of tasting the contents yaaaaaaaaayyyyyy.

So what was inside?

The hamper under examination “The Bordeaux and Artisan Cheese Selection”.

The flavour of the olives comes through nicely and combines well with the various cheeses.

Spicy Moroccan Seed and Nut Crackers.

These pack a wonderfully mouth warming kick thanks to the combination of black pepper and cumin.

The crackers were great on their own and the olive ones went down especially well with my eldest daughter, a foodie in training!  They had a light dusting of sea salt.  Both were also yummy topped with the various cheeses and washed down with the wine.

The Wine

2013 Grangeneuve Bordeaux Rouge was left to breathe for a few hours before drinking.  This great medium bodied wine with a black fruit flavour works well with cheese and crackers as well as meaty dishes especially beef although I could have quite easily drunk it on its own.

The Cheeses

DSC02416 Blackberries and Apple

Creamy and moreish this cheese has a gorgeous sweetness that comes through from the pieces of fruit, you’ll wish the slice was 10 times bigger.  It’s almost like a dessert and was our favourite.

Again, rich and creamy and simply divine.  It’s a great quality and great tasting cheese that can easily eaten on its own (in nice big chunks) or with crackers and wine.

DSC02489Scrumpy Cider and Apple

Blended into a mature cheese the Scrumpy Cider and Apple combined really do work a treat.  In fact they work so well that this particular cheese has won 1st Prize in the Three Counties Show!

DSC02449It was hard not to eat the whole hamper as it was all lovely, the only thing holding me back from finishing the crackers and the cheeses after everyone had had their fill was the knowledge I had to fit into a dress within a few days otherwise it would have been just a mere memory in a short space of time albeit a delicious one.

It is clear that great care has been taken in selecting the products within the hamper.  All items were of a good quality and we thoroughly enjoyed trying them all.  The shelf life for the biscuits lasted was nice and long too one until May and the other until October 2016.  The shelf life of the cheese was shorter as one would expect but still about a month and a half from delivery, lol, like it was going to last that long!!!

Taking into consideration the costing for each item and delivery being included this is a reasonably priced product.  Good to keep in mind when you want to send something a little bit special to a relative or friend.

This Bordeaux and Artisan Cheese Selection hamper is one of their bestselling hampers and honestly it’s no wonder why, everything was great quality and bursting with flavour.

As I mentioned before these guys don’t just do flowers although their flowers are stunning!
