Bonjour French Food

France, a country known for it’s good food and wine.  For those in the UK that would like to sample French culinary delights sent directly from France to their door Bonjour French Food is a company you may like to hear about.  I have a tendency to gravitate towards most things food related as I clearly have an obsession / love of food albeit good food.  Naturally I had to contact them to find out more.  I have a friend who believes in numerology and is convinced that my life is a lucky one due to a particular number featuring in my birth date.  To be honest I haven’t a clue what’s she’s on about although my ability to find the perfect parking space on every single trip we have made out and about and on most other journeys must by now be far beyond a coincidence.  My lucky number clearly was in good form when I contacted Bonjour French Food as they managed to find a spare box to send out to me for trial, yaaaaaaayyyyy.

I made the organic bread first.

I used the pack plus some warm water and half a teaspoon of sea salt.

Et Voila!

So now we had our freshly baked bread it was time to get sampling!

Firstly the bread, this had a yeasty aroma.  The was lovely and crusty with a nice fluffy centre and it did not particularly taste of yeast.

I set the table with the various items within the box as well as a few additions:

Then I sat down with my husband to sample everything.

Petit-Beurres Au Comte et au Poivre

(Butter biscuits with cheese and pepper)

biscuits

P1140100

Warning!!!! these are seriously moreish.  I opened them up and tried 1 or 10 (cough) whilst preparing everything.  These salty, buttery, cheesy and peppery biscuits are great on their own and with the various toppings provided.

Terrine de Caille aux Cepes

(Quail and mushroom terrine)

quail

P1140108  P1140113

Nice and meaty this flavourful terrine went extremely well on the bread just be sure to use a generous serving.

Tapenade Noire

(Black Olive Tapenade)

olive tapenade

Rich salty olive flavour, a nice smooth black olive paste.  You can see the rich dark colour of the olive oil that indicates that it is of a good quality.

Tomatine de Tomate

(Tomato Paste)

tomato paste

Gorgeous tomato flavour combined with herbs to form a lovely tasting and very healthy paste.   This can be used on crackers / biscuits, bread and also to add a rich flavour to sauces.  Tomatoes have been shown to fight against the affects of free radicles and also to help men with prostate conditions as well as help reduce the risk of them occurring.

Compote Pomme-Caramel

(Apple puree with caramel and salted butter)

apple sauce

P1140127  P1140126

Although I did like the flavour of this sauce I probably would not have included it in the box.  Had I been selecting the items I would have thought a nice French cheese would have been more suited.  I used the sauce on the bread but it would go well with vanilla ice cream or in a pie.

Bonjour French Food is available on various subscription or gift lengths from a one month only, rolling, to 3 and 6 months.  The items in the box each month are a surprise which makes it more interesting.  The products are sourced from a number of top quality French suppliers to ensure you have a range of delicious products every month and you can find information on each over on the website so that you can order more of your favourite products.  Boxes arrive on or round the 10th of each month and you can unsubscribe at anytime.  All products are 100% French and what’s really nice about this company is that they use hand made boxes that are made by a company that employs 83 disabled workers.

Within each box is a magazine that gives you a little information about the products found within your box, various other French Food related articles and I also found a hint as to what was going to be featured next month and it sounds really good!!!! have a read of this:

“Our selection is mainly savoury this month because we anticipate December and it’s explosion of sweets!”

Make sure you order that December box guys before they sell out as they sound amazing!
