Is Diggerland Just For Boys?

My girls had the most amazing day recently!  They were driving various forms of digger and JCB all day.  Yes, I know something you might think automatically would be more of a boys activity but my daughters and I, plus a female friend had so much fun!  Us adults weren’t just watching the little ones enjoying driving, riding and operating full size construction machinery all day either, we got to have a go too.

I only recently discovered Diggerland and have already told everyone at school, friends and family how great it was!!!  It’s a theme park inspired by diggers and JCBs.  There are sites around the UK in; Kent, Durham, Yorkshire and Devon (the Devon park also has a campsite.)

What can you do?

There were 20 different rides and drives at the Kent site and each has it’s own height restrictions.  You might want to check this before you go if you are taking along little ones.  As well as the outdoor activities we found an indoor soft play, outdoor play areas, coin-operated rides and more.

Below you can see mine enjoying the following rides: Dumper Trucks, Robots, Dig-a-round, Joyrider (my 9 year old got to drive the police car and was beaming all day), Mini Landrovers, Buried Treasure, Groundshuttle and Dippy Ducks.  We went on many other rides numerous times.  The weather was lovely and the queues were really short.

Waiting Times

We waited a few minutes most times although some were a little longer.  The staff had said it was quiet that day and normally the waiting time is around 15-20 minutes.  The diggers that the children got to drive were all very easy to operate and lots of fun!

Of course, part way through the morning we felt peckish so we grabbed an ice lolly from the ice cream truck and later headed for the restaurant which offers a wide range of beverages, snacks, and meals for lunch.  The restaurant was next to the soft play and the staff kindly brought the food over so the children could play whilst we waited and after of course.

You can also bring your own food to refuel on the day before trying your hand at something new although just to note this cannot be eaten in the restaurant.

On entry the staff made us aware we could get a hand stamp so if we needed to go to our cars for anything we could return easily back into the park.  Good to know that you don’t need to lug around food and drink for the full day.

Diggerland is perfect for a family day out and although aimed at the ages of 4 to 14 years of age all the family can get to enjoy most of the rides.  Now the weather is good, the park is open from 10am until 5pm.  We stayed at Diggerland for the whole day, the girls loved it so much they didn’t want to leave!

Both of my daughters enjoyed all the rides. My eldest’s favourite was driving the police car and youngest daughter loved using the large diggers.  They can’t wait to go again!

Here’s the sped up and abbreviated version of some of what we got up to over the course of the day in just over 2 mins!!!
