10 Reasons Why you should Exfoliate Regularly

It’s important to exfoliate regularly.  Normally it is recommended that you do this 2 to 3 times a week except for those with sensitive skin it should be about 1 to 2 times a week with a light touch.

Exfoliating regularly helps to remove dead cells from the surface of the skin and make way for the new cells below resulting in a brighter, clearer complexion and healthier looking skin.  I was in need of a new scrub so was very pleased to come across Urban Tan Glamour Grit.  This is an oil free salt scrub that contains green tea which we all know has powerful antioxidant properties, sea kelp (helps protect against free radical damage, moisturises and softens the skin and help it retain its moisture), algae (anti-inflammatory and helps the skin maintain moisture levels) and vitamin E (scar reducing and anti-aging properties).  It is paraben free, cruelty free and 100% vegan and an overall great product.  I love its fresh citrusy aroma from the grapefruit.  This aptly named product is packed full of salt unlike some lesser quality scrubs which contain very little of the actual exfoliating agent (natural pumice, sugar or the dreaded micro beads).  To apply you can use bath gloves or simply your hands as these will do just as good a job.  Application is simple enough, you simply apply the grit to wet or dry skin before having a bath or shower.  The salt is quite chunky but breaks down a bit when you massage it into the skin so don’t be fooled and use to much product.  Remember when applying to the body you should rub the scrub into the skin in a circular motion toward the heart.  This product has been designed to be used with sunless tan enhancers but I think that it does a great job even as a general exfoliator.  Using a product like this before applying a sunless cream is generally advisable the day before cream application and helps to give a streak free tan.

The tub is big! 320g, and costs £14.99.  A little goes a looooong way so this is a bargain as your skin will not only feel great but will also look good after each use.  My skin felt soft and smooth from the first application which is exactly what one would expect from a good quality scrub.

The benefits of exfoliating:

1. Smoothes rough skin.

2. Revives the appearance of dull looking skin.

3. It allows for a closer shave (if you shave that is).

4. Helps reduce the occurrence of acne and blackheads.

5. Reduces the appearance of large pores.

6. Evens out skin tone.

7. Improves skin texture.

8. Fights the signs of aging.

9. Allows for better absorption of serums and moisturisers and less make up is required to achieve a better finish.

10. As it allows better cream absorption exfoliation is perfect for preparing the skin for the addition of sunless tanning creams.

I really love this scrub it’s been well thought though to make it a natural product that smells great and gives FAB results.

In summary; I love it!
