There is nothing quite like a beach holiday. Whether you are headed for the Dominican Republic, Gran Canaria, Spain, or Greek Islands you’ll need to do your research so you can find the best places to visit whilst there. Following on from my previous post 6 Types of Holidays to Experience in Croatia in this post we will be looking at The Best Beaches in Croatia as there are plenty to choose from. This popular tourist destination has a wide range of activities that you can do on your visit but my favourite of all is visiting a beach.
The Best Beaches in Croatia
There are numerous lovely beaches in Croatia as well as little sandy and rocky coves. The sandy beaches naturally get busy quickly over the warmer months so you may find that smaller, rockier options might be a more peaceful option. They can also be far more picturesque and have plenty of wildlife to see too. Let’s look at some of the best beaches in Croatia. Who knows this could inspire your next holiday choice.
Zlatni Rat, Brac
Looking to visit one of the most beautiful beaches in the Mediterranean? Look no further. Zlatni Rat, Brac commonly referred to as the Golden Cape or Horn due to its V shape is simply gorgeous. Within the V backing the beach are lush green pine trees. The fine pebble beach stretches into the beautiful turquoise waters of the Adriatic Sea. The windy eastern side also attracts many windsurfers each year.
Borak, Brac
This pebbly beach is a popular choice for those that enjoy windsurfing, kite surfing, and other water sports. There is even a diving school so you can see some of the fish that frequent the waters. Those that prefer to simply sit and relax can hire a deckchair with or without a parasol.
Rajska Plaza, Lopar
With its 500 metres of golden sand, Rajska Plaza (also known as Paradise Beach) is one of the most beautiful beaches you could visit on the Lopar peninsula. This popular beach quite rightly has a blue flag thanks to its clean waters. The waters are quite shallow for a considerable stretch making this a popular place to visit for families. There are also lifeguards that supervise this area. Sunloungers and parasols are available to rent. This beach is accessible to people with special needs and those with pushchairs making it a great holiday choice for families.
There are a range of activities available including volleyball, parasailing, jet ski-ing, and playgrounds for the kids. There are also bars and restaurants on the beach. This beach does get busy and can be quite noisy. If you’d prefer something a little quieter and not so crowded you might like to consider the next suggestion.
Beach Livacina
Again, this is a great beach for families thanks to its beautiful clean shallow waters. This beach is backed by pine trees that offer shade when needed. Alternatively, chose a spot right near the edge of the beach and enjoy the waters lapping against your hired sunlounger, safely shaded by a parasol. Here you can play volleyball, hire a pedal boat, go snorkeling, or even cliff jumping as well as enjoy the surrounding restaurants and bars.
Banje, Dubrovnik
Another popular beach but then what would you expect? This beach has views of the island of Lokrum far off emerging from the horizon. There are plenty of water sports such as kayaking and water skiing to keep sporty types entertained. Otherwise, listen to the beach club music played by the DJ. You can also have massages and enjoy delicious cocktails whilst you relax.

Alongside these beaches are plenty of little coves with sandy shores and some hidden away by the local flora waiting to be discovered. Be warned there are a number of nudist beaches about so if you’re heading out with the family for a day at the beach make sure you check first. Some beaches you’ll find are off the beaten track. So get your body summer ready and don’t be afraid to go on an adventure, you never know what beautiful scenery you’ll see and the great sandy, pebbly, and even a mix of those and rocky beaches you’ll discover.
