Kate and Mim-Mim A Christmas Wish

I know you are wondering why I am featuring a Christmassy DVD in November but before we know it Christmas will be here so bring on the Christmas themed posts and gift ideas I say so that we can all be prepared and reduce our stress levels over what should really be a fun festive season.  I will admit I had not heard of Kate and Mim-Mim prior to being asked to review it but as I am a big kid at heart I looked forward to sitting down with my girls and watching it.

Filled with humour and fun this kept both my girls enthralled to the very end and yes I mean the entire 88 minutes so what can I say the girls must have loved it, they didn’t even want to look at the neighbours firework display!!!  At the end they asked for the cartoon to be put on again which was perfect for me as I had blog posts to catch up on.  I loved the range of characters featured in the seven seasonal episodes and the total lack of violence which is quite refreshing giving the forms of entertainment for children in this day and age.  The quality of animation is really good for a children’s programme and the interesting story lines help keep the viewer’s attention.  Based around a real child (the daughter of the programmes creator) and her toy bunny Kate and Mim-Mim tells the story of free spirited Kate and her amazingly active imagination.

Episodes on the DVD include:

Kittens & Mittens

Kate and Mom are looking after a box of kittens which gets tipped over and they run all over the house. In Mimiloo, a flurry of mitty kats have overtaken Lily and Boomer’s house! Kate cleverly spots something they can use to round up the mitty kats and lead them home to the Winter Waterfalls.

Snow Bowling

Kate wants to build a snow fort, but there isn’t enough snow in the yard. In Mimiloo, Kate and her friends go snow bowling in the Winter Waterfalls. They use snowballs as bowling balls and snowmen for the pins. But when the gang slides down into an ice cave Kate’s creative mind helps to save them!

A Storybook Ending

The storybook Mum is reading to Kate is missing its last page! In Mimiloo, Boomer can’t sleep because he’s lost his favourite book so Kate and Mim-Mim team up with their friends to act out the story. Mim-Mim doesn’t like being the big bad boogideebear and creates a clever new ending to the story.

Chilly the Snowman

Kate’s sad because her snowman is melting! In Mimiloo, it’s a sweltering hot day so Kate, Mim-Mim and their friends head to the Winter Waterfalls to cool down – only to find that all the ice is melting! Kate needs to find Chilly the snowman to help save the day.

Twinkle Twinkle

Kate sees a falling star shoot across the sky and wonders where it landed. In Mimiloo, Kate, Mim-Mim and their friends find the fallen star in the Forever Forest. It’s just a baby star, so Kate and Mim-Mim try to find a way to reunite it with its mama in the nighttime sky.

A Wish for Christmas (double length episode)

It’s a stormy Christmas Eve and Kate worries that Dad won’t get home in time to put the star on the Christmas tree. In Mimiloo, Kate tells her friends all about Christmas, and everyone is excited about sending a wish to Santa Claus. But a blizzard stops their letters in their tracks, it looks like Christmas will be ruined!

Lighter Than Air

Kate’s ball goes over the hedge whilst she is playing catch.  Kate is too small to climb over. In Mimiloo, Mim-Mim accidentally squishes one of Gobble’s pumpkins, which makes him wish he was lighter. Using one of Tack’s inventions, he becomes as light as a balloon! But when the gang runs into trouble, only heavy Mim-Mim can help.

Launched in 2014 on CBeebies Kate and Mim-Mim has established itself as a favourite of children ages 4-6 and is ranked as the third most popular TV show for children of these ages across all children’s TV channels.

Kate & Mim-Mim: A Christmas Wish is coming to DVD this coming Monday 9th November 2015 courtesy of FremantleMedia Kids & Family Entertainment and at a RRP of £7.99 this makes a lovely cartoon to put on for children to get them into the Christmas spirit or alternatively a great stocking filler.

We were given a copy of Kate & Mim-Mim: A Christmas Wish in exchange for an honest review and what did we think?  Well it’s probably obvious after reading my post but to state the obvious “We loved it!!!!”
