Pregnancy Week 19

I’m now on week 19 now and half way through this week my husband was able to feel the baby kick too!!!

It’s hard to believe that after everything I have been through so far I am halfway through my pregnancy.  The thought of the slowly approaching birth fills me with terror as I think back to my previous 2 births and issues surrounding them.  My medical files will soon house my birth plan which involves simply the use of an epidural as nothing else seems to help.

At 19 weeks of pregnancy the foetus is now about the size of a mango and weighs about 240g so not much really yet when you think that the lump protruding from your abdomen also contains the placenta and lots of fluid then you can understand why it’s getting harder to get about, especially later on in the day.

A protective layer is forming over the foetus’ skin called vernix to protect it from the fluid it is lying in.  You are more than likely to feel it moving now and it may now react to loud noises.
