Partaking in an afternoon tea is one of my favourite things to do.  For years I have been enjoying this quintessential British pastime and have enjoyed the sumptuous delights that the various locations have had to offer.  My sweet tooth has always meant that and I always get excited about seeing which beautifully decorated cakes will grace the top tier.  No afternoon tea would be complete without the perfectly cut sandwiches filled with delicious savoury fillings and a middle plate of warm scones accompanied by clotted cream and jam.  I was invited along to the Millennium Hotel in Mayfair for an afternoon tea with my mum on Mother’s Day and we were also taken on a tour of the beautiful hotel.

The Millennium Hotel is 18th Century mansion is located in the heart of Mayfair and is just a short walk from Bond Street station.  It’s location isn’t particularly noisy which is great and there are some lovely stores and restaurants nearby.  The staff’s interaction with myself and others was second to none and service was always with a genuine smile.

 There are two function rooms so whether you are having a large or small event they have the facilities to cater for both.

Planning a board meeting? then this is the room for you!

Clean, a good size, and it’s always handy to have two toilets, I also liked that they had both a bath and separate shower.

The room was spacious (this is just part of it) and beautifully decorated with exotic flowers.

As always I began with the finger sandwiches.  We had a selection of Smoked Salmon, Chicken with Tarragon, Egg and Cress and Cucumber.  There were four people at our table and the sandwiches were replenished a further two times to ensure we had our fill of the savoury part of the afternoon tea.

Warm Scones

To accompany the scones, clotted cream, lemon curd and mixed berry preserve.  It was unusual to have a lemon curd served with an afternoon tea but it went fabulously well.  We all halved our scones in order to try both and then dived in for seconds!

These were all beautifully presented and tasted great.

 All gone although it was hardly surprising as everything was yummy.  The afternoon Tea at The Millennium Hotel in Mayfair was one of the best afternoon teas I have had the pleasure to taste.  I hope to return again with friends to the Millennium hotel for afternoon tea as soon as I can.
