Shopping around at various dealerships will also help you to keep your options open. Be sure to tell the salesperson that you are talking with other dealerships. This way they are more likely to negotiate a more competitive price.
Make Sure You Don’t Miss This Important Check
Believe it or not, it’s very easy for you to hide the condition of a used car. Test driving is the best way for you to try and catch any hidden problems but at the end of the day, it’s not a fail-safe. If you want to help yourself then it is wise for you to do your research and look up the VIN so that you can learn about the accident history. If you go through a used car dealer, you won’t have to worry about the condition as much as they will do their own checks.

One of the main questions that you probably have when looking at cars is the monthly payments that you will need to make. Don’t take the bait here. If you know that this is the main focus of your entire negotiation, then it may be that the salesperson chooses to lump the price of the vehicle and the finance or lease terms together. This gives the dealer too much power when fabricating the general appearance of a good deal. If you can, negotiate one thing at a time so that you can make sure that you are not overpaying.
