These Crispy Marshmallow Eyeballs are a great treat for the kids and look fantastic!
Crispy Marshmallow Eyeballs
Halloween is a fun time of the year for little and big kids. Many a year we’ve headed out in search of pumpkins and the sugary treats that finding one rewards us with. This year it’s all a bit different. There won’t be any trick or treating as we’re going to be sensible and stay in and have fun at home instead. We decided to start the Halloween fun early and create a yummy Halloween themed recipe. These have turned out so well that we decided to share the recipe with you all.
The eyeballs are easy to make and taste great too!!! All the kids enjoyed being involved in making them and would do it again in a heartbeat.
So without further ado here’s our Crispy Marshmallow Eyeballs recipe.
Ingredients
160g shops own crispies – or Rice Krispies
200g marshmallows
100g Salted Butter
300g White chocolate
Large chocolate buttons
Jelly Tots
Thin strawberry laces
Method
Add the rice to a pan and heat until they are lightly toasted. Don’t be tempted to increase the heat too high as they quickly start to burn. Pour these into a bowl.
Place the butter in the pan and heat until completely melted and slightly browned. Lower the heat. Add in the marshmallows and stir until they melt.
Remove the pan from the heat and add in the crisped rice. Stir carefully until fully mixed.
Allow to cool, then mould into 16 balls. The kids love to do this, just portion out equalish measures. (You can fix them and make them more ball shape before you add them to the chocolate if the kids have helped.)
Then the fun part!!!!!
Decorating your eyeballs.
Cut the laces to the sizes you want but measuring up against the balls. Don’t forget you’ll want different sizes to make them look more realistic.
Melt the white chocolate. Dip in the eyeballs one at a time. You can fully coat or partially coat so there is nothing on the bottom. Either way works.
As each is dipped hold up with a fork and tap this gently to remove excess chocolate.
Place on a tray lined with baking paper. You don’t need to decorate the eyes one by one, you can coat a few with chocolate at a time and decorate in batches.
