Edible Sweet Gifts for Under £10 (2017)

We don’t all have endless amounts of space so sometimes when buying gifts I think it is a good idea to consider buying gifts that are edible rather than ones we hope the recipient will use for years to come.  I know I have limited space and although I appreciate another great quality pan for example I have literally no storage space left.  Well meaning friends and family always buy me items for the kitchen which is lovely but for me no longer practical as I have nowhere to put them and they just get piled up onto of others that have yet to be used.  Sometimes gifts that are edible can be a welcome change and may be used as a gift or part of a selection of gifts depending on how much you want to spend.  There are so many different sweet treats to choose from and today I wanted to focus on items that you can find for £10 or less.  If you are dieting look away now!

Prosecco Sweets

These have become increasingly popular and I for one would love to try them in some shape or form.  John Lewis has two different types bonbons (200g) £5.00 and gummies (250g) £6.50.  These adult treats are not actually alcoholic and are sure to go down well with Prosecco lovers.

Marshmallows

With the rise of gourmet marshmallows there has never been so much choice available.  From basic vanilla to champagne and strawberry flavour we are more than spoilt for choice.  Yumbles have a range of foodie items including lemon meringue pie marshmallows (pack of 10) £4.75 and coconut marshmallows (130g) £6.00.  These make a great addition to any gift and would be welcomed by all marshmallow lovers.

 Chocolate Covered Nuts

I know so many people that love chocolate covered nuts and these make a great gift or additional gift.  Hotel Chocolat do some gorgeous dark chocolate Brazil nuts (230g) that come in a reusable tin for £10.  What something for a little less they have a range of tie bag options like their dark salted caramel almonds (130g) for £5.50 or £5 if you buy two or more.

Chocolate

Chocolate is always a winner unless although you come across the odd person that doesn’t eat it.  I know how unusual but apparently there are a few out there.  Us chocolate lovers do outnumber them greatly and a selection such as the Guylian praline seashells (250g) available at Tesco for £3 or the 375g box for £5 also from Tesco generally goes down very well.  These are my sisters favourite chocolates and she always gets some for birthdays and Christmas.

Biscuits

Now when I mention biscuits as a gift I don’t just mean any old thing.  For it to be suitable as a gift you need to take into consideration the quality of the biscuit, flavour and also packaging!  Here is were Harrods seems to have excelled.  These stunning biscuit boxes (contain 300g of biscuits) are perfect as gifts, on the left the daffodil tin contains chocolate chunk hazelnut biscuits and on the right the rose tin contains delicately spiced stem ginger biscuits.  These are suitable for vegetarians.  The tins cost £10 each and of course the box is great for storing bits and bobs from makeup to piping nozzles.

So as you can see you can find a wide variety of items that make lovely gifts and cost less than £10.  There are so many more items to choose from but of course it all depends on the taste of the recipient where your search will be guided.  For those like me that love their chocolate I have one last thing to mention.  A super little competition thanks to the generous guys at Guylian who agreed with me that we should share the love and the chocolate so here we go.  If you fancy trying your luck have a quick read below to find out how to enter.

Top 5 Gift Ideas for Batman Fans

I grew up watching Batman.  I used to watch the tv series with my brother as a child and watched all the movies too.  I wouldn’t say I am a hardcore fan but I have enjoyed watching the range of movies and think I have probably seen them all to date from Batman and Robin featuring various characters like Poison Ivy and Bat girl to the most recent Dark Knight Trilogy.

batman1One of the items that I have seen and actually bought for a mini fan before is this great clock which has moveable arms and legs.  You can find these in John Lewis priced at £19.99.

This Batman mug is great and I think any fan would be delighted to have one of these.  It’s not too pricey either as it is on offer for £6.99 at The Gift and Gadget Store.

batman2
My next suggestion is pretty useful.  It’s a Batman Multi Tool for £6.50.  This bat shaped key ring is also a bottle opener and has crosshead and flathead screwdrivers in the wings.  If you want one make sure you check out The Gift Experience .co.uk.

batman3The Dark Knight Trilogy Box Set is a must for any Batman fan and can be found at HMV for just £14.99.  Forgot to buy your Batman fan one at Christmas ont worry grab it as a Birthday Gift, they will love it!

batman4
Last but not least is this super cool projection torch that no Batman fan will want to be without I know i’d love this it’s great.  Available from The Gift and Gadget Store for just £4.99.

Now I am sure many of you know at least one Batman fan, you might even be one yourself and with that in mind I am going to giveaway one Dark Knight Trilogy Box Set (check this) to one lucky reader to help you have one less gift to buy this year and as it’s January Blues time and I like to make people happy.  One lucky entrant will have their frown turned upside down when they win this great boxset.

Great Girls Coats for Spring 2016

It’s finally Spring, the thought of which fills me with joy at the knowledge that Summer will eventually arrive as I have placed an order for some nice warm days this year.  Recently I purchased some Tweed Black and White coats from John Lewis in their sale.  These coats are suitable not only for Winter but also the Spring months which are still rather chilly.  I love the design and quality of these coats.

DSC02227Suitable for various occasions we thought that they would be more than appropriate for our recent film premiere visit to Kung Fu Panda 3.  The coats were not only warm but looked great especially against the brightness of the red carpet!!!

Also on my shopping list are some other equally adorable coats for girls from a couple of other retailers.

This beige quilted coat with faux fur trim from RJR.John Rocha at Debenhams is a gorgeous style and I am clearly not alone in thinking so.  Pop onto their site and you will see that these are low in stock so if you want one hurry!!!

Coat 2

Beige is a great colour for the Spring and also Summer seasons and following in that colour theme I also found this beige belted faux fur jacket this time from River Island.  Also available in khaki both have a removable fur trim but I think the coat looks better with the trim rather than without.

Coat 3

Next up this adorable beige trench coat from alexandalexa.  The classic style should see you through younger sisters too provided your little one takes reasonable care of their coat.

Coat 4

I’m loving the alexandalexa site at the moment and this time deviating from beige to a classic black.  I couldn’t decide between their puffer from Kickle or Burberry.  Both are padded and lined with faux fur and would look great on my girls.

Coat 5

Coat 6I hope you liked my selection.  Which would you choose for a little girl?

Sophisticated Ladies Christmas Jumpers for 2015

Wow it’s 45 days until Christmas.  How exciting!!!  It might seem like ages away but now is the time to get that Christmas shopping started if you haven’t already.  Christmas jumpers appear to be getting popular although to be honest you wouldn’t catch me dead in one.  With that said I thought it might be nice to help those that want to track down a great Christmas jumper to save them the leg work (aren’t I lovely) so here are my top 10 Christmas jumpers available for ladies.

I wasn’t expecting to say this but I take it back, not all Christmas jumpers that came up on my search were excessively garish.  With that in mind I have decided to make this post about the more sophisticated Christmas jumpers for ladies available to buy in in 2015.  I could actually see myself wearing some of them like this Emmy Santa’s Coming Christmas jumper from Boohoo, who doesn’t like the film Elf and what a great idea for a jumper and a bargain at only £15.

Ladies christmas jumper 1This simple John Lewis star jumper gives off that Christmassy vibe perfectly when worn at Christmas yet you could wear it anytime of year thanks to the great design that doesn’t exclude it from general wear.  A bit pricier at £49 but this isn’t just seasonal wear.

Ladies Christmas jumper 2Next up this cute long jumper from George, it’s festive yet simply adorable and well worth £16.

Ladies Christmas jumper 3This ASOS Christmas jumper with embellished snowflake is very pretty and looks really warm too.  An inbetweener pricewise at £38.

Ladies Christmas jumper 4Also from ASOS this star embellished dress is another flexible piece that can be worn throughout the year and is therefore a bargain at £45.  Ok, so it’s not a jumper but it can be worn as one.

Ladies Christmas jumper 5This jumper found at both Littlewoods and Very for £25 looks great and works well with jeans and leggings.

Ladies Christmas jumper 7I’m sneaking in another dress which looks great as a dress.  This piece that can be found at both Littlewoods and Very for £35 is guaranteed to sell out fast so you had better grab one soon!

Ladies Christmas jumper 6This Christmassy yet very understated jumper from ASOS is only £22 and combined with some leggings or dark skinny jeans and a bit of sparkle this has the potential to be part of a great outfit.  I love the colour of it and the cute bows give it that hint that it’s a Christmassy jumper but don’t scream it’s Christmas!!!!

Ladies Christmas jumper 8This jumper dress priced at £20 from prettylittlething gives you the option of wearing it as either.  With a festive colour and message this can be worn with long boots or with bootcut jeans or leggings.

Ladies Christmas jumper 9Last but not least this knitted jumper with a faux fur trimmed hood from Lipsy priced at £38.  Feminine and warm it’s the perfect thing to weather on a cold winters day.

Ladies Christmas jumper 10I hope you all liked my jumper / dress (lol, I couldn’t help myself) choices.  I am so impressed by what I found that I may be getting some of these myself.

Happy shopping.
