I love bananas and strawberries and they make a fabulous combination in smoothies.  The only thing is as a breakfast smoothie they aren’t quite filling enough.  I decided to experiment in the kitchen and make a yummy mix to which I also included oats and soya milk.  This was made last week and actually posted last week for #‎NationalBreakfastWeek but since then my blog post was deleted along with 4 others due to a systems problem with wordpress so a whole weeks’ worth of posts just vanished (apparently this hasn’t happened before so fingers crossed it won’t happen again).  OMG, you cannot believe how upset I was anyway here it is again for those that missed it.

Full of all sorts of goodies including soluble fibre, plant oestrogens (weaker than our oestrogens but mimic them in the body), Vitamin C, potassium and more this smoothie is full of antioxidants, helps reduce blood sugar levels, reduces the risk of heart disease and some cancers and so much more and the best part is it tastes amazing!!!

Provides 2 servings


1 banana

Approximately 90g of strawberries

1.5 – 2 tbsp of oats

80ml vanilla soya milk

30ml vanilla soya milk

Place the oats and 80ml of soya milk in a heatproof bowl and microwave for approx. 50 secs (1000W microwave).  Set aside to cool whilst you prepare the other ingredients.

 Peel the banana and throw it into your blender.  Remove the tops of the strawberries and add these too.

Add the rest of the soya milk to the oats and stir in then add it all to the mix and blend well.


You can pour the extra portion into a glass, cling film and place it in the fridge for the next morning of grudgingly had it over to your significant other or children who will then of course demand you make it every morning.  On the plus side it’s healthy!!!

  1. That sounds like something I’d actually be able to tolerate, I often have trouble with drinking ‘mushed’ up fruit but I also for Crohn’s disease so find it hard to digestive fruit.

  2. I wish I had the energy in the morning to make these. After I had lily when chris was off for 2 weeks he was making me smoothies and it was amazing.. then he went back to work ARghh lol
