Wake up naturally

What wakes you up in the morning?  An alarm?  A baby?  I have been using the alarm on my phone for years to wake me up.  One problem with that is that the few times I get to have a lie it’s sods law that I will get a phone call waking me.  I dread the alarm going off it’s the harbinger of a frantic morning especially during term time.  It would be nice to have a gentle nudge to get up rather than what could be likened to a baby screaming.

It seemed that I had unwittingly stumbled across the solution when I discovered the Lumie Bodyclock Starter 30.  Clearly my luck was in on that day.  Labelled as the original wake up machine this simple yet apparently effective device also known as a dawn stimulator wakes you up in a more civilised manner.

This device has a sunset and sunrise option and also an audio alarm option.  You can ditch the bedside light as this works just as well.  This for me is a great alternative to a phone as it is a gentler and more natural way to wake and to go to sleep and it also saves me from possibly smashing my phone one day!!!!

DSC00464DSC00470This was simple to put together thankfully, you just pop it open, screw in the light bulb that comes in the box with the machine and instructions.  Then, plug the device in and you are ready to go.

DSC00475The light was stronger than I expected it to be.   The Lumie Bodyclock Starter 30 is intended to promote better sleep patterns which in turn will boost the users mood, energy and productivity levels during the day useful whether you are working or looking after children.  The light can be set to come on 30 minutes before waking and when you go to bed to ease you into waking up and going to sleep in a more natural manner.  The light gradually increasing in strength in the morning stimulates the body to increase cortisol production which helps you get up and slows down melatonin production that induces sleep.  It of course works in a similar fashion at night but with an opposite effect on the hormones as the light dims slowly instead of getting stronger.  The Lumie Bodyclock Starter 30 even has a snooze feature if you are not quite ready to leap out of bed and greet the morning.  There is a back-up alarm too so no need to worry about sleeping through it.  Power cuts will never again be an issue with the power failure back up.  I think this machine is great and a well thought out product.  All bases seem to have been covered and having used the Lumie Bodyclock Starter 30 albeit just for a week and a half and I feel that it does actually have a significant effect on how I felt during the day making me an even happier and livelier person than normal (those that know me are aware that I am a lively and bubbly individual generally).

The Lumie Bodyclock Starter 30 is a certified medical device and can be used to help treat people with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder).  Clinical trials have proven  it to be effective as has my firsthand experience with the device.  The bodyclock isn’t excessively large and it fit well on my bedside table which was handy as it left plenty of space for my reading book, a few bottles of water, the baby’s bottle with room to spare.

If you, a family member or friend has sleeping problems or suffers from SAD this is a super item to get as results are seen quickly.  Even if you don’t have sleep problems that you are aware of you may actually find this device helps you wake feeling more refreshed in the morning.  As well as of course making you feel better getting a good night’s sleep can help improve memory, improves concentration, increases life expectancy, allows the body to heal itself, reduces the chance of getting ill (lack of sleep suppresses the immune system), helps you maintain your figure (lack of sleep can slow down the metabolism).

I’m thinking of getting a Lumie Bodyclock Starter 30 for my brother for Christmas who is really grumpy in the morning but don’t tell him or you will ruin the surprise!!!

I really need something like this, as I hate waking up with a fright. It messes me up for the rest of the day.

  4. StressedMum

I have heard about these, but never known anyone who has used one, I think they sound like such a great idea and good review on how they do actually work.

These are such a good idea – we used to be always woken by our kids but now it is our alarm. I would much prefer a natural wake up call!

I think this would be perfect for me. I am hopeless at waking up in a morning, more because I was always taught growing up that if it is dark outside, it means bedtime x

trying to work out if I’ve entered, I’ve logged in with facebook as requested,
however it says I have 0 entries and the only options it is offering me is
    twitter based ones.

since i don’t have a twitter account I can’t tell if I have just given you access to my facebook data
wihtout even getting a competition entry in return…
could you confirm one way or the other please,

and if you do have to have a twitter account to enter it might be nice to mention that…

    thanks.

Hi Jo, I am afraid that the twitter option is compulsory for entry. Have you considered opening an account,it’s very easy to do.

    2. admin

Thanks for your comment. The rest of the entry options will not open until the twitter part has been completed and this in turn indicates to entrants that twitter is compulsory so no lengthy explanations are required. No don’t worry no facebook information has been taken as those parts have not been completed for the information to be passed over. Please read the info provided about how to enter rafflecopter competitions as this will help you enter future competitions, thanks 😉
